L.p.n. Pay??

Published

I don't know about Knoxville, only the Johnson City area, which is pretty close (2 hours away). I do know that new RN's in the hospital start at $15/$16/hr..so LPN's are obviously lower than that. I work for a facility for developmentally disabled, and I know they are starting LPN's at around $13.50. I don't know anything about LTC, though, but don't they usually pay more? I imagine the pay is around the same in Knoxville as it is around here, so I hope that sorta gives you an idea.

Different place pay different rates. where i work you start at $16.00 for days with a $.50 night dif and a $1.00 weekend diff. That is in a LTC

Well.. out of the box I was making $17 an hr. I firmly believe that if you deserve and want a certain pay, don't settle for less. I know of several friends who have negotiated up to $2+ an hr. There is a shortage, and it is very evident in the LTC setting.. a 30 patient load, I'm not putting my liscense on the line for nothing.

What is the pay level for an LPN in the middle Tennessee area? My husband wants to move to Tennessee, around the Nashville area. We have friends in Dickson. I'm currently in Oregon, here the pay varies, I have made from $18 up to $20 an hour in LTC here. Also, is the humidity real intense in the summer months? I haven't been around 90 degree weather with humidity since I moved from Wisconsin when I was in my 20's.

I am an LPN also thinking of moving to the Knoxville area. I curently live in Melbourne FL and work in LTC. Can anyone name a few Nursing homes to work for or some to stay away from. I do have a 30 PT load, most are A/O some very confused, I would perfer to work with alzheimers. Any info would be great. Thanks

After reading these posts I am more depressed than ever!!!! If and when my license comes thru I'm thinking I'm going to have to get a second job just to make ends meet. I was making 37 to 42 an hour and had 5 patients max. The only LTC experience I had was in nursing school. Uh oh !!!!!

Hi. I just relocated here from Southern California. We came out here to Nashville last July for a "fact finding" tour and it was hot and humid, then we flew home and it was hot, humid , crowded and the air quality was awful !!!

We are also enduring a very cold winter along with much of the country. I keep asking people if this frosty weather is typical, I get a bunch of different opinions. My husband and I both really like it here and personally I will take humidity over this dry air anytime. It seems much colder than it is. The snow takes some getting used to also.

Haunted... are you not an RN? Still no luck with a position?

Hey you! Yes I am an RN with about 10 years experience and I am stalled with either California or Tennessee pushing my license thru. That's ok for now since we bought a house in Hendersonville which is a "unique fixer upper" meaning MONEY PIT!!!! But it will keep me busy and hopefully we can move out of downtown and finally get some sleep ! But my job situation is kinda in a holding pattern.

Hey haunted, I live in Hendersonville also. You will love it here, good school systems, beautiful small but growing city. Welcome to the neighborhood.

Thanks! The BRN "declined" my license though since I did not provide them with a diploma or a degree !!! I said they never asked for that in the application packet and that is not a requirment according the the latest BRN rules and regs. Now they are sending me a letter from the legal department!!!

So maybe I can find a nice retail job somewhere . My eyebrows are up so high I can feel them tickling the back of my knees. Otherwise, hiya neighbor. Where are you working?
