Hi All! I'm currently a senior nursing student and about to graduate this coming March. (Yay almost done!) I would like to become an L&D nurse and I am currently looking into jobs and new grad programs. I was just wondering if anyone knew if there are hospitals in the bay area/East Bay that have a New Grad Program for L&D? Any information would help. Thanks!

Hello,
I am so excited for you!! I graduate in December 2008, if all goes well. I attended a new grad session at Kaiser in Oakland, and they had a L&D new grad program, however it opens up once a year I think. Check the Kaiser website under career events. I know there is a Spring Hiring Event on March 18 8am-6pm in Union City. There are also RN information sessions available just to get the information on their new grad programs. If you check the Kaiser website you can find the earliest RN information session date that works best for you.
I want to work L&D too!!!
I hope this helps!
Yea I did read about that hiring event and I marked my calendar already to attend. Hopefully they give me some good insight and information. Oooh how exciting for you too that you're going to be graduating this year also! Thanks again!

We have a new grad program at CPMC in SF. We do it once or twice a year. Classroom and preceptor. 500-600 births a year and third level nursery. I think it is really good!
Thanks for the info..

CMCRN,
Is the new grad program at CPMC competitive for the L&D dept? I gave birth there in 2006 and i absolutely LOVED it!
