Hello!
I am a new LPN graduate, waiting for results/review on my KY PN application.
I am hoping I can find somebody with a similar situation to shed some light on obtaining a license with a past criminal charge.
9 almost 10 years ago I was arrested and charged with public intoxication. It is the only time I have been in trouble. I had to stay overnight in jail and pay a citationxx. I disclosed the information on my application along with needed documents. I have been checking my application status online (submitted 10 days ago) and today it has changed to "routed for review".
I did find where it can take up to 3 months for review and there are 3 ways it can be reviewed. Staff member, board members, or a credential committee.
My question is this, has anybody gone thru something similar and how long did it take for them to review/approve/deny your application?
I can't imagine it taking 3 months to sit for my boards while this is in process. I am sick thinking a immature mistake in my 20s will effect the rest of my future.
Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Unfortunately, none of us can say how long the process will take. The board of nursing moves in mysterious ways and have their own timelines - which can vary widely. In your favor is the fact that you self disclosed and submitted the appropriate paperwork. I would hope that a decade old charge would not negatively impact your future but no-one but the BON can give you the answer to that. I wish you the best as you work through this process.
