Hey everyone!

I wasn’t sure where to post this so I’m sorry if it seems out of place.

I’m a senior nursing student. I know I want to work in the ICU but I can’t decide which patient population I want to work with! I had chosen adult ICU as my first choice for my senior practicum but by some twist of fate I ended up in the PICU. I’ve only done one night so far but I loved it. The thing is I don’t know if I would enjoy working with teenagers. I have a hard time connecting with them but I absolutely love working with infants and younger children. I also like the variety and multitude of conditions seen in the adult population.

Anyway, my question is to all of you experienced nurses... what do you like about the ICU/PICU/NICU? If I start in adult, will it be difficult to transfer to Peds or NICU later if I decide I don’t like it, or vice versa?
