Just need to let you all know KNAP is dumb and its the stupidest program ever. We are all being extorted. I'm negative month after month after month but yet they won't let me out..." they feel I would benefit from a full 3 yr program"...funny because whoever "they" are have never met me and don't know me as a person. They know me as a file name and number. I self reported for a one time pre employment drug screen fail...I made a mistake I shouldn't have to pay for it for 3 years if I am clean and am not a drug user. Even my evaluation guy who just so happens is in cahoots with KNAP said I didn't have a drug problem. I don't know how someone who has only failed one drug screen in their life...ever...can be told they need monitoring for 3 years..I could go on and on and on. It boils my blood they just want my money.
Sorry if this doesn't make any sense and is just rambling...I am furious all the sudden for no apparent reason. I need to quit getting so mad at this program but its hard not to hate it. I am negative, I am compliant, I am jumping through the hoops. I just get mad about it and gotta scream at times.
Thanks for listening!

I am already kicking myself, so please just need advice. I only have 7 mos to go in this program and had a dilute drug test after always having negatives. I also have a script for opioids that I have taken twice for a broken tooth, prescribed by my dentist, but not listed on my mess with KNAP. I am scheduled for another test today that is twice as much as normal. I have drank and will test positive. Does anyone know what kind of test, blood or urine? And with a positive test will my license be suspended or will they extend my license? I am currently working as a nurse..I have already lost everything once. One would think I would have learned, I have severe anxiety and PTSD due to a sexual assault. I am attending AA meetings daily and searching for a therapist. Please no judgement, im literally sick about this. Just need some advice please

Scream away, hon. You and everyone else in all of these programs all over the country. Try never ever having failed any sort of drug test and getting hammered with a 5 year contract, 3 years in with never a dilute, never a miss, never anything. Ditto, the first eval shrink said "appears to be more a mental health issue than a substance issue." Well duh?!
At some point in the past i think that these things were set up to help a certain sector of people and have probably been a lifesaver/career saver for a certain sector of people, but just like "recovery" in and of itself has become a business, so have these programs. The point of business is to generate profit for its shareholders. Well, we are the product and these programs and the associated "evaluators", pee test companies and many of the "treatment" facilities that but for these programs would otherwise not be in business are the shareholders. (FYI...the "approved evaluators" frequently have a financial stake in said treatment facilities)
I'm probably not saying anything that you've not already figured out for yourself, but yeah your anger is justified. And yes, it is all about the benjamins...your going to them....
Changes are slowly coming down the pipe as the abuses of these things are made more and more public. Those changes (like more no more blanket contracts for all comers regardless of all and opportunities to have necessity of contract reassessed at a certain point.) may not come in time to help us, but they are coming. Look at the results of the Texas 2017 Sunset report (google it) for some insight. Makes for good reading. In the meantime, take a deep breath and feel free to come here and scream. We all need to from time to time.

If my experience with having a dilute is what will happen to you -- they are going to do a blood pETH test which will indicate that you have been drinking. You are allowed one freebie relapse but your program, including key restriction, will restart.
Thank you for responding. Do you know if I they will make me stop working? Or is that the one "freebie" they give for grace and will be able to keep working g and restart my contract over? Do you think I should contact my case manager and just tell him? Or just wait for them to contact me? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to figure out how to move on from here
Being up front is probably the best policy. Esp if you know that you will test positive. I've known some people who did not have to stop working and get re-evaluated but I think it depends on your circumstances. It sounds like you have a lot going on.
The freebie is being reported to the BON. You get one relapse, if you relapse again you are reported to the BON.

I don't get it. You got a board order and because they won't let you out early, then they are dumb?? Please remember that board members visit or are members of allnurses too. Be careful what you write, it may hurt more than just you.
I think the OP hollering about these programs being "dumb" is justified. i do feel that whatever the reason that brought us to these things there should be an opportunity at some point in the journey to reassess the need for the thing to even be in place. Criteria could be for example have all stipulations been adhered to without fail, is participant progressing in therapy or whatever, work requirements been met, etc. Using myself as an example. i am at 3 years of a 5 year contract. All stipulations have been done, work portion-done, never a missed check in or dilute, etc. There is nothing more that another 2 years of this will do except punish me by stunting my career, separating me from money i don't have and aggravating the depressive issues that in part brought me here to begin with.
Now that being said, you drink, miss check ins, etc...then no, no early "release" so to speak. Heck even felons get time off for good behavior.

Oh boy. I'm sorry for your situation. I don't think the dilute UA is a big deal unless it happens often. If you have prescriptions for opioids from a medical professional I also don't think that's too big of a deal unless you didn't inform them first that you were in on-going treatment (a requirement in my state). However, if you test positive for ETOH that's a big deal. Where I am they basically make you start all over again and stop working for a period of time I think. I'm sorry for the bad news but I believe that it's the truth. I'm in group with a lady who has been in PNAP for about 7 years I think. Good luck to you

I will not judge you but by your own admission you have relapsed. When I was in the program and had surgery I had to report to my monitoring board that I had been prescribed opiate medication with a copy of the prescription. Also you say you drank. When you test positive you will likely get an extension on your contract. My only advice is to be humble and honest.

Well sorry for such a late response on this just now realized I had a reply. In my defense I self referred for a pre employment drug screen fail so I didn’t have a board order but at this time in my program I was upset that I was doing all things they wanted and asked of me and yet when I would write very detailed letters to the KNAP board asking to have my 3 yr monitoring lowered to a lesser Amt of time and they kept denying me so it was frustrating me to no end. Luckily, I can now say I made it through this program with flying colors I might add so things are no so negative in my mindset now but at this time I was struggling with the demands of the program and life so I needed a place to vent and rant. Thank god for this forum and making me realize I wasn’t alone in this horrible monitoring program. Grateful I found it in my time of feeling hopeless and thanks for listening to my rants.

You have hijacked someone else's post. Make your own, it's less confusing.
