During my college years, I tried to get a temp job at my mother's work. Everything was great and it was pretty much a guarantee - except I failed my UDS. Mind you, I have never tried a single drug in my life. I do have underlying kidney/bladder issues so I made sure I drank lots of water so I would be able to produce an adequate urine sample for the UDS - turns out, I drank too much and diluted my urine too much which lead to an inconclusive test, which the facility automatically marks down as a fail. Even with a note from both my PCP and my Nephrologist, policy was policy and I did not get the job. Lesson learned. Perhaps this is what happened to you.

An abnormal UDS means that there is something wrong with your sample that makes it suspect. It could be intentional (e.g., drinking too much water on purpose to dilute any drugs in the system, tampered with the sample), or unintentional (e.g., you accidentally drank too much out of nerves, have a bladder infection and are shooting out a lot of nitrates).

Unfortunately, a lot of facilities treat an abnormal UDS as a fail. Some will give you a second chance. I would ask your employer what was abnormal about the test and see if you can repeat it. After all, the worst they can say is No, right?

Best of luck.

How did your abnormal turn out with KARE?

I'm in the KARE program & have had 3 "abnormals" (spaced out) over the past 3 years. Actually, my creatinine was slightly elevated. I called my case manager & discussed. They all occurred during the summer when I had done a lot of farm chores in the heat. I was a little dehydrated. My case manager was understanding since it wasn't a consistent finding. She asked that I email her the circumstances on the day I tested. Nothing further occurred. All my other tests have been negative. Just a lesson to drink more water when I'm out in the heat! í ½í¸Š

Can you give an update on your situation?

i never said anything and neither did they..so far so good
