Kennesaw State University Fall 2022

Published

Hey everyone!

It may be a bit soon, but since the deadline to apply for Fall semester 2022 at KSU is around the corner, I thought I’d make a post for anyone also applying for this semester! I personally have just finished all my prereq’s and am currently preparing to take the TEAS for a second time. If you don’t mind sharing your stats here, I would love to see what everyone’s applying with, as well any advice on scoring well on the TEAS! Hopefully some of us will end up in the same cohort ?

My stats:

Prerequisites - Done

GPA - 3.61

TEAS Score 1st attempt - 75

Will be retaking this January.

I studied for my first TEAS exam in less than a week, and def should have better prepared for it.

To anyone who did well on their first try please share!!

Hello! I also applied to Kennesaw as well as a back up plan, I applied to middle Georgia state university, Gordon state college. I’m currently studying for the Kaplan test for gordon. I plan on taking the TEAS after I’m done with that. My GPA was a 3.0 but it went down to a 2.80, I’m retaking some classes this semester and Summer semester.

My stats:

Overall GPA: 3.49

1st Attempt TEAS: 90.7

Prerequisite GPA: 3.68

Outstanding Courses: PSYC 2103 - Human Development (taking this Spring)

I have seen in previous KSU threads comparing their stats and competitive scores, is this something admissions considers? As well, by "top 5/7," does this mean only calculate your highest 5 grades out of the math and science section of prerequisites? Also - if you retake a course for a higher grade, do you average the two before including in your highest 5 grades (ie. originally receiving a C, but retaking and then receiving an A, do you average as a B or take the highest of the two)?

This is what I have seen for the competitive scoring criteria:

Total GPA- 20 points (multiply your GPA by 20 then divide by 4)

Top 5/7 - 30 points (math and science GPA only, multiplied by 30 then divide by 4)

Top 7/12-20 points (multiply your GPA by 20 then divide by 4)

TEAS 20 points - multiply by 20 then divide by 100

As well - I am looking to apply to both accelerated and traditional programs as I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology from KSU, but does anyone know how that works? If they choose which you will be in or if they give you a choice?

I wish you all the best in this application process!

I ended up getting a 90.7 on my first attempt, but I definitely put forth a lot of work. I did not put my all into college the first go around (graduated in Dec 20 from KSU), so I knew I had to aim for a 90 or above. I put in about 6 weeks of studying, but this was nothing vigorous of hours on end, just a few hours a day (my average per day was about 2 hours, took some days off).

First, I purchased the Practice Tests from ATI's website and the ATI Study Manual, and I took Practice Test B to see where I stood, I received a 70.7. From this I learned 1, I was no where near ready, and 2, I knew exactly where my strong and weak points were.

Second, I read the entire Mometrix Secrets study guide while taking notes on every page. I would highly recommend this book as a source! They even offer supplementary videos throughout the book's context on their website or Youtube; I also watched those!

Third, I read through ATI Study Manual and took notes on the things I felt I needed to brush up on.

Fourth (and after using outside sources such as Youtube, reddit, etc.), I took Practice Test C the night before my ATI Exam and received an 88%. I did some final brushing up using Mometrix book and Youtube videos.

Other Sources: Youtube (other students study tips for TEAS videos, Science with Susanna), Reddit (study tips from other students), and online practice test or quiz I could find!

Best Materials (IMO): Practice Tests from ATI, Mometrix Secrets Study Guide

I applied for fall. This is my second attempt to get in. I have over a 3.5 and scored a 90.7 on the TEAS. My stats were pretty similar when I applied for Spring but the difference is I’ve now completed all prerequisites and have an associate of science in health professions. Hoping that I get in this time because I’m in my 30s and don’t have the time to keep putting off finishing my nursing degree! I’m limited on locations because I have a house and job and such, so I can’t relocate for a program. Super nervous and hate how long the wait is for a decision!

fingers crossed and good luck to everyone!

Hey everyone! I applied for the fall semester for both the traditional and accelerated programs. First time applying to nursing school! I’m very excited but also nervous! The next 2 1/2 months are going to be the longest! Here are my stats:

Overall GPA is 3.6

Prerequisite GPA is 3.91

TEAS is 87.3

I’m taking Micro and Chem 2 this semester

I know not being completely done with my prerequisites puts me at a disadvantage but I figured I would still apply anyways! Good luck to you all!

Hello Everyone!! I applied for the traditional program! Good luck to all of you! Here are my stats:

Overall GPA: 3.5

All my prerequisites are complete

Science GPA: 3.6

TEAS: 90.7

Now the waiting game begins.. I wish you all well!!

Hey Everyone! I applied for the traditional program! I am very excited to be applying this semester. Good luck everyone!

My stats:

Overall GPA: 3.37

TEAS: 88.7

Prerequisite GPA: 3.6

Outstanding Courses: Anatomy and Physiology II and Microbiology
