Kaplan Review Scores?

Published

Hi,

I just graduated from a nursing program and currently trying to study for the NCLEX. I am currently enrolled in the Kaplan Review course and so far the program is very informative and helpful.

I wanted to ask, for those people who have done the Kaplan course, what scores did you receive for the test trainer?

I have taken 3 of the 7 test trainers and so far I have recieve a score of 53%,55% and 59%.

I also wanted to ask for those people who took their readiness test, what scores did you recieve and did you pass the NCLEX?

I wanted to figure out, if I don't improve my scores on the test trainer and continue to recieve 50-60%, could I still pass the NCLEX....

My anxiety is overwhelming me.

Thanks

Hi,

I used Kaplan to prepare and I passed Nclex with 75 questions in a little less than an hour. The program really works if you do everything they tell you to do.

My scores for the questions trainers were: 83,68,72,69,72,73,and 70. I didn't receive actual scores for my diagnostic and readiness tests, just that I "passed" both tests. Kaplan recommends that you score 65% or above on the question trainers before you test. Take tests 1-4, if you don't get over 65% go back and reviiew content before you tackle test 5. If you enrolled in the course I strongly recommend that you review the test taking strategy videos, review of content videos, and review of questions videos, they are really helpful.

Don't get discouraged, as you review content and do questions (make sure you read all of the rationales to the questions, right and wrong) you will find that your scores will increase. I have friends who took the course as well and scored around 63-64 on question trainer 7 and they passed with 75 questions as well. Good luck!

Thank you for your response.

Do you think I should read the rationales everytime I finish a test trainer or should I not even look at the rationales and redo the same test trainer?

I ask this because after I look the rationales and redo the same test I recieved a 55% on, I get above an 95%. Of course this is because I read and understood the rationales.

I am in the same boat as you! I actually took the Nclex once before and did not pass and so I decided to take the Kaplan course that everyone seems to pass on. I read the entire book and did the question trainers 1-2 and got a 59% and a 58%. When I went to redo them, I too got a 98% on both because I knew the rationale. I don't know if that is how it's supposed to work or what? I don't know if you have the Qbank questions but they work great. They are a bit hard but read through the rationale for all. Well, I am planned to take the test at the end of the month but still feel nervous and not ready. I have heard though that if you do everything they tell you and understand it you will do fine!

I took the kaplan review course to study for the nclex! I only competed the first 3 question trainers because my scores were so low and it made me feel horrible and that i wasnt competent, which i feel like iam! my trainer scores were 55,50, 39. pretty bad right! so i switched over to studying from the q bank! i created a test of about 50 questions from each sub topic (managed care, pharm, risk and reduction, ect) and just focused on each individual topic until i felt comfortable with the information and then i took a few q bank tests that included all the topics. I took my nclex on monday and passed! so just because your question trainer scores are low, does not mean you cant pass the nclex! Iam proof of that!!

Thank you for your response.

I would definitely review the rationales. There is a lot of information to be learned by reading through the rationales that would help you with later question trainers.....

I also agree with what another poster here said....take a q trainer, if you don't score well, review content, then use the q bank to focus on specific content areas....

I spaced out taking my question trainers over a one month period. I actually didn't take test 7 until two days before my exam. I figured that if I didn't score well I would still have time to reschedule, or if I did, then the "practice" session would still be fresh and I would still be in the "kaplan mode of test taking"

i passed at 75 questions with 58-68's -- mostly the lower. read all the rationales and if you have q bank put it on tutor mode, when you are setting up your test you can do test or tutor, that way you can immediately look at rationales as you go through! found it very helpful :)

Thanks for the advice everyone! I'm just going to get through all the questions and read every rationale and go in and do it =) From what I hear, Kaplan is really helpful in success in passing and have read many success stories on this website. Wish me luck and in 2 weeks I WILL be an RN

Im scheduled for NCLEX next Wednesday. On my question trainers to date I have scored: 62,63,62,61.

In the classroom readiness exam I scored 62.

The instructor told our class that anyone scoring 58 or above on the readiness test- she guarantees will pass NCLEX. --Let's hope that one is true.

I agree that doing the Qbanks in tutor mode is the way to go. Use it as a study guide. The test trainers take a long time to complete and you can't review until after you are done--it is not as helpful for me to do it this way. I will take test trainer 5 today, but I will not be going beyond that-- only qbanks in tutor mode, oh, and I started taking notes in a notebook along the way, it has been very helpful for me to do this, since I have to write it down and then when I take a break, I read thru my notebook, so I feel Im getting reinforcement this way.

good luck everyone!

What an appropriate name, LoL!!! I too have been getting scores within 57-61 on my question trainers. I have Trainer 7 yet to do. I'll get that one out of the way on Tuesday. I test on the 14th, kind of a poetic end to this nightmare of a nursing program here in Orlando, ugh!!!

On the Q-Banks I've been scoring around 59-64%, so at least I'm consistant. I'll let you guys know my fate as soon as I test and get my results.

God Speed everyone!!!

I only studied with Kaplan and passed with 75. I got 60s on the question trainers and then kept on doing them until i got 70s. i did the qbank twice. Just keep on doing those questions overe and over until; you understand them. Go over everything on kaplan complete. I passed the boards with being out of school 2 and 1/2 years!!!! good luck!!!! apexsw20trd;2643354]Hi,

I got on my q trainers 69,65,60,55,62,55,57, 66 on dx, and 62 on readiness... but I was playing world of warcraft when i was taken the q trainer 4,5,6 & 7 cause so darn long etc. yea im positive ill pass the nclex on first try :smokin: got 96 and 98 percent pass rate on ATI exams an i graduate as summa cum laud in nursing school 3.8-4.0 ya i had 3.8 but oh well still summa cum laud :D i ave 55% on qbanks so far only 44% done, but boy these kaplan women who do the talkin in the vids sometimes trip up makes me think taht they have no idea what a nurse is ... sometime i can't even understand wat they ask in their dum questions ... im so mad i dumped so much money on this nonsense .. if u have to guess in the nclex exam anyway then what is the point of reviewing any material??? everyone i talk to about nclex says they guess and only sure of 1-3 questoins yet still they pass in 75 i will pass in 75 qs or i will commit suicide and then look up to god and say is this what u intend for me!?!?!
