Kaplan college in San Diego RN program

Hi, I will be starting the RN program with Kaplan as soon as we relocate. My husband's in the Military so the wait lists at other colleges turned me away from them.

Do any of you go to Kaplan? If so, how did it work out for the student loans and stuff , I am confused. It seems as if tuition is around 45000 for the couple years of the program. I am eligible for the pell grant and the military grant of 3000 per year. But would the loans be able to cover everything else since it's a vocational school more than a traditional college? Thanks!

Hi engnr2RN-

Been busy getting the transcripts and everything together!! The break down is deceiving, because it looks like three yrs, but it comes out to be 24 months. Sept thru Dec is the first 3 months before the yr end (1st yr!). 2nd year is a full 12 months, then 3rd yr is from Jan. to Sept, the last 9 months. Hope that makes sense!! I think that we won't find out if we get in until after the August deadline. That is what it sounds like from reading this blog. I have no idea why there is an early deadline, probably so there won't be a huge influx of people wanting to be admitted. Just guessing. Talk to you later. I have to take all the courses again since my math and english are more than 10 years old :(

I got an 85.9% on the teas test, and about a year a and a half of medical experience. I'm really anxious about getting in the program, do you think it is good enough? i'm trying to apply for the july 11th date for early admission, please lemme know what u think!

Wow KennyBee! Congrats on your TEAS score! If you have the six months experience I'm pretty sure you should be accepted...Hopefully we can all be in the September class.

Hi KennyBee....yes, I'm trying to find out by the 15th of July if I got in. Everything is looking hopeful, though. Did you speak to a rep after you passed the TEAS???

Nice I hope you get in! Yeah I had already spoken to my rep before I took the TEASand after as well. The score I got is actually my second attempt score so i have to give her my ATI username n password and all that. I sent her everything else already so i'm waiting for july 15th just like you. damn I hope we both get in lol

hmm they haven't filled the September classes yet because the final deadline is not till august 1st, so the slots are still up for grabs. As long as you have the min requirements then you are a possible candidate for september. Hope this answers your question.

As for the requirements for the sciences, they are anatomy, physiology and microbiology. I don't rly get what you mean lol, sry

Does anyone know what kind of background check they do/how strict it is? I got an infraction( pretty much just a regular speeding ticket) about 6 months ago and I'm really worried that it is going to affect my chances of getting in. Don't they count even the smallest things such as infractions when doing the background check? pls lemme kno if you do
