Hi all! I applied to the ADN program for Fall 2024 for the KCC ADN Program. I got waitlisted as an alternate and I am wondering how the process goes. How long before you hear back? Should I move on to other programs? About how many alternates do they normally take? If anyone has experience as an alternate in the past or is also an alternate for this coming semester, your input would be greatly appreciated.

With my cohort they had the alternates come to the orientation and jumpstart meeting. As far as I remember 3 people got in after being an alternate. They were contacted about 2ish weeks before school started.

Was your orientation in person? What is the jumpstart meeting? 😮

Yes both orientation and jumpstart are in person. Jumpstart is basically another orientation 😂

I am wondering if you had FAFSA for all your pre requisites? I am trying to get FAFSA to pay for my 2 classes-MICR and PSYCH. Although I am being told something about my degree plan which I have set under Liberal Arts Degree. I need help, no counselor or advisor was able to help me today.

What major did you declare while doing your pre-req for FAFSA to cover--if you were using FAFSA?
My understanding is that FAFSA will not cover prereqs at all for any major- you must be in the program and declared. Currently FAFSA will cover my tution as I am in the program and declared a Nursing major, but they did not cover my prereqs are I was still a Liberal Arts major. Hope that makes sense!
Okay, now hearing from others it makes sense. I was just not used to this whole major declaration thing and FAFSA covering classes or not. Thanks!
