Kaiser anesthesia (kpsan) 2018

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to start a post for those who are applying for CRNA school at Kaiser. The program is now a DNP. They added one more year and a whopping 60K increase in tuition fee. Having that said, I am still on the process of application (awaiting for 1 more recommendation letter).

I just want a support system since this will be my first time and I really want to be accepted in the program. I am currently living in NY but I would love to move back home (Cali) and I told myself that getting accepted in to the program is the only reason I would go back. -_-

Questions:

1. Did anyone got deterred with the recent changes in the program?

2. Would it be a good year to apply? [first year for DNP]

3. What makes a good candidate? STATS would be appreciated.

My STATS

3.7 GPA

2 YRS CTICU (by the start of program] big academic hospital in NY

1 yr in MICU (LA)

2 YRS MEDSURG (LA)

never the head of a committee but a member .. My stats are not as great as other applicants but still hoping for a shot.

Good luck everyone!

yeah , sort of...

he kinda mentioned about CCRN. The "counseling session" was 5-7 mins conversation.. Whats ur stats?

-Overall GPA 3.7ish (nursing is my second degree, Nursing GPA is higher).

-A little shy of 2 years ICU experience at level I trauma center

-Science background (Biochem, O. Chem, physics, etc.)

-Committee member/volunteer/leadership positions/research experience

I am not sure if what I listed is what they look at. I am hoping for an interview.

That's competitive !!! good luck to us

Specializes in Trauma | Surgical ICU.

Just applied. Really excited about their DNAP program. December can't come soon enough.

It's DNP lol

What's the LOL about that? It's the doctoral study of nurse anesthesia. The difference is that DOctoral study in nursing practice can also be applied to FNP. Hopefully, you are aware of the difference.

LOL hope YOU understand the difference between DNAP vs. DNP

Finally finished my application today (waiting very nervously for one last letter of rec). Really hoping I can get a chance to interview here. I know how great a program it is. I wonder if the DNP change will affect the number of applicants.

I would put the most energy into your statement rather than stats and those of others. I'm currently in the program, and most applicants are identical. Your statement is Your time to shine and explain why you would make a great CRNA.

I'm just finishing my first semester and it's a great program, those graduating with a DNP will be very competitive applicants when it comes to jobs!

Hey fellow nurses,

I just submitted my application yesterday. I'm really nervous about the outcome. I hope we all get an interview. Here are my stats:

CVICU Nurse 2 years

Army Veteran

Certifications: TNCC, CCRN, CSC, ACLS

GPA: 3.6

Chair of several committees in the Army

Chair of Unit Practice Council

Preceptor

Leadership experience

I have a few old colleagues from my hospital that are in your program currently. I was told that the personal statement did not have that great of an impact. Now I'm concerned I won't even get an interview.

5 years RN experience, 3 CTICU/CCU, 2 PACU/OR

3.98 BSN GPA

Bilingual (Spanish)

Involved in many committees

Volunteer at free healthcare clinic

My stats now seem not that great.

It does! Promise
