Does nursing assess JVD to determine fluid volume status where you work?Reason for Asking: In my reading I have found that distended JVD is indicative of fluid volume overload when assessing a pt with Right Heart Failure. My institution does not expect nursing to assess for this while the MD's use this assessment almost all the time.Thanks!-A

Noting flat or distended neck veins on the assessment is something anyone can do. Not sure why an RN would be prohibited from noticing and noting a physical finding.
