Just took my NCLEX today and feel horrible

:o Today was the worst day of my life in the last 3 years. I took my exam which I thought I was totally prepared for. I studied for the last month and a half religiously everyday for at least a couple of hours. I did a review course, practiced with the cd rom's plus purchased several other books to study from. I had 265 questions and it took me 4 hours. I had questions about stuff I never heard of. No math, no IV, no insulin, the whole test was on medications which I never heard of, a handful of delegation, and the majority of the questions were on cardiac in regards to the nursing process. It would take a miracle if I passed. I feel I just don't have it in me anymore to study. I have tried my hardest and gave it everything I had. How can I feel that I have done so poor? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated to help me get through the next 48 hours.

I took it Monday and I thought it was horrible too. I just found out I passed but it was a long 48 hours and my blood pressure was even up at my physical this morning (before I found out)! I seriously felt like I got about 2 questions correct on the test.

The best thing I can say is to try and stay really busy so that the time passes faster. Good luck!!!

Hi there,

I am taking mine on Monday, so I haven't been through it yet! But your post sounded so sad. When I get discouraged I try to remember that I am more than the test, grade, etc. for what I am striving for. You will pass, and so will I. If we need to retake the test, we will pull ourselves up by the bootstraps and get through it, as we had to get through the many trials and tribulations in nursing school. Do you have a friend you can hang out with today? Or maybe go see a movie to get your mind off of it for awhile. I hope I can take my own advice next Monday! Anyway, good luck!

Believe me EVERYONE feels exactly the same after taking nclex. Keep your chin up, I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine.

I took mine today also.... It was so random. I had 80 questions and I praying not to get 265. I had questions about medication that I've never heard of and a lot of priority and cardiac. I'm so nervous.. I work tomorrow so I'm hoping to find out my results before my manager!

I had two friends who took the exam yesterday. One had 75 questions, the other 265. Both thought they failed, especially the friend with 265. I had calls this morning from both and they both passed! Try to be positive- everyone feels like they failed when they walk out (including me- I had 75 and was POSITIVE I had failed; I swear I only knew 5 answers, but I passed too!). Try to do something fun today to get your mind off the exam- you studied for a long time, you need some relaxation!

So glad to know we are not alone. I swear the only questions I am starting to remember i missed. I think the waiting is worse than the anticipation of taking the test.

I wish the computer could tell you whether or not you failed as soon as your done.

You sound well prepared. I don't care if its 265 or 75 questions. The whole process is stressful. I was told that some of the questions are designed to see if you really know your stuff or are just a good guesser. Seriously! Some of the questions have no "right" answer and are designed to test your ability to think and reason. I wish you the best- you did YOUR best!

I took mine in Albany, NY. Would be too funny if we were at the same exam. I have been crying and praying all day. I hope I'm one of the lucky 265 people. :o
