Just submitted my application at VVC for the RN program...

...and it was a very sad experience. The receptionist looked through my app. packet and said "Well this is very cut and paste isn't it. We don't really look at these." I was so taken back. I didn't even know what to say. I smiled a little and she told me "Well we'll let you know at the end of October so hang in there..." Should I have "beefed it up" up my app a bit? I submitted some proof that I work as a CNA, but aside from the detailed list of things they asked me to submit and highlight, I didn't add anything else. My grandma passed away yesterday, I thought turning in my application would get me through the rest of my day but now I'm feeling like I have no shot in hell in getting in this program.

Go back!!!! Go back in and explain the death in the family and ask for one day to rework your application. If you want this, show them how bad you want it. Hang in there! I'm sorry about your grandmother. If they let you rework the application, ask the receptionist what things really "shine" on an application. Once you get your app back, get back on this site and let everyone help you.

Did you take it to Victor Valley College in Victorville? They usually don't look through your app right then and there (unless she is just looking for completeness) It is a very straight forward application. There is no option to write anything extra, no essays, no work experience, NOTHING! I think you are the same person that facebooked me. What is the name of the person you took it to? Maybe she just wasn't used to reading any of the extra stuff you added. As long as you have all of the requirements, don't stress. They will accept you. Maybe she was having a crap day?

She also could have meant cut and paste, because you basically take everything from your transcript and place the grades in the boxes. I bet thats it :)

Hope all ends well :)

Thanks :) I have been pretty stressed out with my grandma passing away and then of course waiting for an acceptance letter. I've been way too sensitive lately. I really hope I get in, it's taken me 4 years to get prereqs done with 2 kids and a full time job. Turning it in was easy, waiting is the hardest part! Thanks again for your reply :)
