Just saying Hi!

Hi everyone, just joined this forum after doing a search regarding the CRNE exam. Just introducing myself really - I'm a final year adult nursing student currently in the UK and will be moving out to the beautiful province of Nova Scotia probably at the end of 2011 or beginning of 2012. So glad I found this forum! Best wishes x:)

Plenty of threads here on the CRNE as well as in the Canadian forum. I would say just concentrate on the CRNE prep book if you have it. Where in NS are you moving to? Been here 2 and a half years and love it. Just started work and pay much better than what I was getting in the UK

Just to add to meet NS requirements you will need hours both clinical and theory on Mental health, Paeds, obstetrics as well as general to meet NS college requirements

Hi Silverdragon - thanks for the info - I need to look at the NS college requirements. I understand that a new CRNE prep guide was published this year - I'll wait to see if I can borrow one (the shipping cost was way too high).

We have PR and have Wolfville or Halifax in mind. I love the South Shore also, but my teenager wants to go to either Dalhousie or Arcadia Uni.

It's great to hear that you love it there and even better that the pay is better than in the UK! I can't wait to go.

Thanks again for the info

Yes there is a new CRNE prep guide costs about $75 plus tax (15% just gone up from 13) I live up on the North Shore area and we love it. Took some getting used to the snow but they are geared up for it so haven't really noticed it as a big problem, traffic still moves unlike the UK that comes to a standstill lol

Canadian training is general and you will need hours in all areas to meet NS requirements, a few UK nurses have had issues and I had to do a couple of courses to meet requirements.

Hi - I'm so glad I found this site - yikes I didn't realise I'd have to do further training. I can't thank you enough for the heads up! I'd better start planning now!
