I just registered for Excelsior. I have to fax my LPN license and a few other things today but as far as everything else, I'm waiting to get excepted. I've found a few classes that I can take as pre reqs that aren't through excelsior.
ALEKS beginner algebra - 3 credits
Straightliner English = 3 credits
Straightliner Micro - 3 credits
Straightliner A&P 1 with Lab - 4 credits
Straightliner intro to sociology - 3 credits.
Does anyone know if these are ok and if not, which other ones are available? I'm also looking for a psychology and humanities to take. ANy advice?

You need approval to take outside courses but Straighterline is not acceptable for core courses for at least 2 years now. (Plus that would likely put you over the maximum ACE credit limit)
Micro & A&P cannot be taken at Straighterline as they are core courses. This is also stated on the Straighterline website as well as which other classes are ineligible for transfer to EC
You can also take some of the UExcel exams as many of the GE exams are low cost. You also have the option to take CLEP or DSST exams at about $100
You are required to take life span developmental psychology aka human growth & development. This can be an EC exam, class or CLEP exam.
Sociology at Straighterline won't count for Excelsior either as that is a core course. Core degree requirements cannot be taken at Straighterline.
For the Excelsior College School of Nursing (SON), core degree requirements in Associate degree programs include Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, Life Span Developmental Psychology and Sociology. For Excelsior College SON Bachelor’s degree programs, core degree requirements include Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, Psychology, Sociology, Statistics and Ethics.

Thank you

Yes, if approved by an academic advisor

Never rely on "some people," always ask a nursing advisor. :) For what it's worth, I did that CLEP in 2008 and as far as I know, the acceptability has not changed.
