I am so overwhelmed!! I couldn't answer most of those questions in the book. This is coming from someone who has a BA and has gotten A's in chemistry, micro, and both A & P courses. I have yet to take nutrition and statistics which I will be taking this summer. I am not by any means trying to gloat but I honestly would have thought some of these questions I would have known what the answer is. I guess I learned the material at the time but didn't retain it?
Has anyone else felt like this?

I feel that way as I'm studying for the NCLEX!
Which book did you get? I really liked the ATI book, and did very well on the TEAS after using it to study.

I felt the same way! I actually took the teas once without studying at all and got a 68 because I thought I would have known/remembered most of it and it was also right after i took a similar test called the hesi and got a good score. Then i used the ATI book to study and got an 87 the next time after I studied for about 3 weeks. The ati book reviews exactly what is on the test. I would definitely recommend it. Good luck :)

I agree with you completely, my advisor told me to buy the ATI book and study. I almost didn't listen, but I relented after reading about the TEAS here, and I am glad that I did, it was a surprisingly hard test.

I haven't felt that way about the book yet. I'm 105 pages into it so I'm about to enter the science portion. I took the first practice test online and scored a 58%. I made mid-upper 70's in reading, language, and math but got a 33% in science because its the nitty gritty that didn't retain. Hopefully after I take chemistry my mind will be refreshed on that part. Start at the beginning of the book and work your way through. Don't skip around. If there is a subject that you don't fully understand go to khanacademy.com and watch a video there, do some practice problems. It's overwhelming yes but totally doable. I was upset about my 58% but then I read that if you get a 62% that is highly indicative of being able to pass nursing school so keep that in mind!

I didn't really use the book that heavily. I took a practice test a week beforehand and then focused my studying on the things I did the worst on. For me that was life and physical science and algebra, with about a 50% on those things. I didn't study at all for thing like reading that I did well on.
The day before I took the practice test again and was dismayed that I did worse, even on reading. I studied some more, same stuff pretty much. The day of, I studied some other math I struggled on, like fractions.
In the end, I got a 70 on the 1st practice test, a 65 on the 2nd, and an 84 on the real thing without going too nuts studying. I do recommend skipping around if you have a big discrepancy between subjects. Focus on what you need to. Math is an excellent place to focus on IMO since it is the most consistent.
Overall though I felt very discouraged as well but the real test was much easier than the practice. Don't drive yourself crazy. GL.

Thanks so much for the replies! Yes I got the ATI book and today started my math refresher course. Thankfully a lot of it is coming back to me. I guess I just need to start working through the book little by little. The science part the one which I am most worried about. The subjects are just so broad! I've never taken an astronomy class in my life and it was asking about space!! Slowly but surely I'll get it done :)
The technique that worked well for me (96%) was reading through the book cover to cover, marking the pages I needed to review with Post It tabs as I went. Then I went back and reviewed just those sections and removed the tabs as I went. It allowed me to expose myself to everything, but really focus my time on the stuff I really needed to review.
