Just because I'm a student DOESN'T mean I'm dumb!

Hello All,

I just have to send this out into the void so I can move on. . .

I am a ADN student graduating in May (8 weeks to go). I am doing my preceptorship on a really great floor and my preceptor is wonderful. My problem is a couple of new employees have been hired (one new grad RN and one newer RN Grad) and they are consistantly treat me like I am completely ingorant and incompetent. I am really good at turing the other cheek when insulted (I was in the military for 4 yrs) and I don't want to get the reputation that I can't work well with others but I am really getting offended. I have kept my mouth shut when they say rude and demeaning things but if I work in that unit when I graduate (my preceptor has already talked to the supervisor about hiring me after graduation) I really don't want them to think that talking to me that way is ok.

I have discussed my concerns with my preceptor and she told me that they are threatened by me?! and not to take it personally.

Aaaaaaah!

Don't worry about it, its a waste of energy. If you really feel you can't take it any longer, then just pull them to the side in a professional manner and let them know how you feel.

I agree! PPl like that get what they deserve...Karma...More than likely they are like that with other ppl too and it's going to come back and bite them in the butt:banghead:

By no means should you let someone run-over you but if it's little petty stuff then don't give them the satisfaction of letting them know it bothers you. Keep doing your best and keep your good attitude and it will pay off.

Then maybe one day you'll be their boss and you can do a happy dance:dncgbby:when you get to tell them what to do. lol ;)
