Just got back from taking the Hesi entrance exam

Published

Hey everyone, I just got home from taking my Hesi entrance exam for the first time, and I passed! The score isn't as high and I had hoped it would be, but it is a passing score nevertheless. My school required the math and reading comprehension sections only. The book did help prepare me some, but some of the math questions were WAY off in my opinion. I didn't just study the book, I went on Khanacademy.org and multiple YouTube videos. Best of luck to all of you.

Could you explain a bit more on what you had on the math section that threw you off?

How did you find the reading portion to be?

I take mine tomorrow at 12.

I'm not amazing with story problems and there seemed to be A LOT of them. I know my nerves got the best of me though. The reading part wasn't as bad as I thought. They keep the passage on the screen while you are answering. Do NOT worry about the time. I had an hour left by the time I was done. Best of luck and keep me updated how you do!

Math is not my friend.. Especially word problems. But I learned to set up word problems as proportions and ratios. Hopefully that's the kind of math word problems I will encounter- I am hoping that was the majority of them on your exam as well. I need an 80 in each section to be considered into the program.

Thanks for the insight. 😊

I hate math and I'm usually terrible at it. But if you study the hesi book, you should do well. Surprisingly I got 96 in math. I was shocked. But definitely learn fractions, ratios, conversions and study word problems. Good luck.

Thanks!! I studied all of those.. Ratios, proportions, fractions, decimals, percents. Although word problems are my enemy, I I definitely understood how to set them up as proportions. Im hoping that's what the exam consists of!

Thank you😊

Yeah I studied like book more than I study for my regular classes. Word problems were never my strong suit. I was hoping for point blank questions. I was honestly bummed that there wasn't a lot of conversions.

Thanks for the insight. Hopefully the questions are not as hard as they seem to be.
