Hey gals!

I have waited for this moment my whole life! Finally going to school for what I want! I have been attending classes here and there for 10 years, now I am in LVN school 12 weeks in and I am pregnant very unexpectedly with my 6th child. Kids are 10, 8, 7, 5 and 8mo...I am determined as heck and I have great support system....I think I can do it! I am due August 2010 and I don't graduate until November 2010....

I am sooo sad as this pregnancy was completely unexpected :( But I need to feel blessed because it is child....

Any advice????

Talk to your school and find out what you options are. How well do you recover from having a child? I have 3 and by my third one i could have left the hospital right after, I felt great. My school said they had someone have a baby on a friday and was back to school on Monday. If you feel like you can do it, then do it. Go with your feelings.

You can do it. I was the same way as the above poster with my 3rd child. I had a c-section at 6:30 on Wednesday morning and was walking out of the hospital at 6:30 on Thursday afternoon, would have been sooner if I had been able to convince them. C-section requires more recovery time but I'm betting you could continue your classes and clinicals shortly after delivery.

If your school has a summer break in August, I'd consider the possiblity of planning an induction during that time. I know that not everyone is a fan of that but you do what you have to do.

Good luck!!!

OMG!!! First of all let me say CONGRATS!!! You shouldn't have anything to worry about. Every school has a policy so just make sure you find out what yours is. My teacher told me that every year someone gets pregnant in her class. I"M PRAYING ITS NOT GOING TO BE ME!!!! I'll be done in July so I've done good so far.

I hope everything goes well for you. Keep posting letting us know how everything is going.

Wow, six kids! I don't see how you do it. I can barely afford to live on my own with my nursing salary much less take care of six little ones too. Good Luck!

Don't give up you can do it! I also found out I was pregnant during LPN school and just graduated Dec 17. I will be 37 weeks pregnant when I sit for my NCLEX-PN. It was not fun having morning sickness during clinicals but if you really want it you can get through it. Just keep your support network near to get through the tough times. I managed to complete LPN school with a 4.0 and high honors and won the academic award for my graduating class. I'm not saying this to toot my own horn, so to speak, but to show you that anything is possible if you believe in yourself and don't give up. You can do it!

Wow, I think its amazing that you can go to school with the kids you already have. How do you afford the daycare? I could barely afford to put my 4 year old in preschool 8 hours a week doing pre-req's.

If you have come this far, Im sure you will find a way. You must be really good at time management, I have 4 kids and couldnt keep up with you. Good luck!

Congratulations. Your school should be willing to work with you as pregnancies in nursing school is not uncommon.

Thats just the most ideal situation. Its great for the kids to be able to spend so much time with their Grama. It seems like families are living farther apart these days. What a blessing for you!
