It's an open book exam, you can prepare by reviewing the PDF documents on CNO's website under jurisprudence exam study resources.

Also, look on youtube for a powerpoint presentation by nursekillam, Jurisprudence exam; prepare to pass it the first time.

You can keep your browser open during the exam and search the information, you basically need to know how to find the information to answer the questions.

No, I did not have to write a separate exam, because I graduated long before NCLEX became the national licensing exam. The nurses who wrote the Canadian exam before the NCLEX, had jurisprudence questions included in their nursing exam. If you were educated in Ontario, those PDF documents on CNO's website were included as part of your curriculum and the legislation should seem familiar, not daunting.

No,it's not daunting....

but...i some good tips from someone who has given the exam.as the legislation has 6-7 topics they are very big. I want to discuss those with someone.

Licensed nurses need to keep abreast of the nursing legislation throughout their careers not just for an exam at the beginning.

Usually hospitals and LTCs won't hire IENs to work as a PSWs, as they hire local trained PSWs who have completed a 8 month PSW community college program, but some agencies or private employers might hire you as a PSW.

pawara do you know any other iens who are scheduled to do the OSCE at the same time as you? If so, can you practice taking patient histories, data collection, physical examinations and communication skills with them?
