Things just seem to getting worse and worse, 20 jobs have been lost at Deer Valley and even more at North Mountain-No department has been left untouched. Life is very tense at work these days wondering where the axe will fall next?? From Directors to Pct's all have have experienced some job losses.

There is plenty of work however, they phone me on a daily bases to come in and work-but to be truthful the more work we have to do each day the less inclined I am to go in for an extra shift.

Hope everyone is hanging in there. It's scary times! I hear the docs even talking about fewer jobs and opportunities. Recession proof industries like group homes are even struggling as families can no longer afford to place parents etc.

Sorry to hear that Madwife. I have been watching the job postings at JCL for a long time, (or lack of job postings!) I have an app in at JCL DV for the only job posted.....and it's a job I have been offered before but had to turn down. No wonder they aren't calling.

Work is not fun at all when you have to constantly worry and watch your back.

Are they still using internal registry from Partners in Practice? I am on a seasonal contract that ends soon. Looks like Partners in Practice will be my only way in if I want to work there.

I really dont know if they are using partners in practice sorry.

I know we are going to experience a nurse shortage before the summer is here. We are expected to take more and more pts, morale is low and all of the work force is getting burnt out.

The only recommendation I can give is keep an eye on the career opportunities on the JCL website. I believe ther were some job opportunties in the CCU at DV

i heard about this! my b/f actually volunteers at the deer valley and he said a couple of weeks ago some doctors were talking that the hospital was doing a 2-year hiring freeze.. of course i am sure that they will hire if someone quits or something but it is so sad! i thought nursing would never feel the quake of this economic disaster yet they are!

ICU job closed today. I wonder if they decided not to fill it. I didn't even get a phone call and I have a pretty good contact in HR. I guess I should have called!

i heard that the reason the ccu job was opened was because the jcl have cancelled the pool nurses so often in the last few months, that a lot of them have gone elsewhere to work, so the jcl is back to using registry again, after saying they wouldnt be using them, so its cheaper to get a staff nurse than to use registry.

I know at NM there are lots more nurses and PCTs in the float pool coming out of nursing resources instead of on the individual floors. I know of people who had their tuition reimbursement forgiven and sent on their way. I'm hoping by December when I graduate that things will be a little bit better.

There are RN jobs being advertised now at the new Breast surgery Unit at JCL Deer Valley opening in June this year.

They are mon-fri Pre op and PACU jobs
