Hi! I am new to this forum and was wondering what kind of job everyone has while in school?
I am currently awaiting my acceptence letter for a Spring 08 entry into Nursing school and I am freaking out about working full time while trying to do Nursing school. I dont want to mess this up since it has taken me so long to get to this point! I'm not sure if i should continue working, try cutting my hours, or take out a bunch of student loans and not work at all if possible. What does everyone else do? does anyone else struggles with this issue?
I really cannot afford not to work. how do people do this?
When I was going to nursing school I worked part-time as a nurse tech in the hospital. My school believed that school was #1 & everything else in your life such as: friends, family, work, even those that had children, etc. should be #2. Nazi's I know! Anyways, I worked part-time & got loans for what I couldn't afford. Seems harsh but really when you graduate you'll be making decent money & will be able to pay off the student loans in no time. :)

LOL- Sounds like the ARMY... I should know my bf is a Staff SGT in the ARMY- and they are DEF FIRST! It's craZy! But I guess they have to be like that...

I felt like I was in a Nazi camp. I swear, sometimes it felt like the army. Must wear scrubs this way, hair must be up during clinicals. If homework is late such & such will be counted off for each day, etc. etc. Very strict, but you know in the end it was worth it. All the tears & late nights & all the times I said I wanted to quit. I'm so glad this thread exists. I have been freaking out about applying to the program and not having money to pay my bills.
What kind of loans are you guys applying for to have the extra money?? I normally just fill out my FAFSA and get something back from Sallie Mae offering student loan money. It's very little; barely enough to pay my tuition/books.
What kind of loan should I look into to cover my living expenses if I get into the program this Fall??
But I guess they have to be like that...
