My friend works at Baptist Hosp East, she is on a neuro floor. A new grad $19 & some change....pt ratio 5/6:1 I think.

Louisville area hospitals use in-house registry and agency nurses. Not much chance for a travel contract. Pay is much lower than other areas, as well. The agency I work with pays $27 plus bonuses if you work enough hours. That's with no benefits, of course.

What agency do you work for, and how did you find out about agencies to work for?

I have actually been looking into contract nursing jobs myself in Louisville. I work in Lexington right now and have no complaints about the pay. However, I would like to relocate to Louisville. Norton Hospital has quite a few job openings and I applied for a WOW position there. You work 2 shifts a weekend and get paid for 36 hrs. The contract/travel agencies just don't seem to provide enough security for me. If you are interested, have friends that work for Intellistaff/MSN and love it. Good luck!
