Job searching in Nursing

Hey there, Im new to this forum. I wanted to know what it was like for graduates to find jobs. How long did it take you? Did you have to start at a nursing home first to get experience or did you get hired right away at a hospital. Sadly, nursing is not a 100% secure job, I found out that people are getting laid off in one of the hospitals in my area. I'm just trying to get some ideas here so any input from working nurses would help. Also, is it true you can start applying 6 months prior to graduation?

Depends a lot of where you are located in the state. In Cheyenne they have the new grad residency that they get a lot of applications to. Laramie hires new grads as do most of the critical access hospitals.

Yes in my area and I'm just looking into other people's experience as a new grad as well.
