I'm 8 weeks away from pinning and then being able to sit for the boards. I'm wondering how soon after pinning will I be able to start applying for positions?? Like will I be able to apply ( at like urgent care or dr. Office) before I take the boards pending license? I am a registered medical assistant presently.

I graduate in December and I have an interview at the end of this month. Several in my class have interviews lined up already.
Is it from a place that you or your classmates did clinicals, or places that y'all applied at??

I know some places hire GVN's where you would work under a licensed LVN or RN. Pinning is just a ceremony thing, but after you pass your NCLEX is when you can work. I guess you could put on your resume that you are taking the NCLEX soon, but still you could work as a GVN. That's if they want a GVN. It's rough out there. I am a new graduate and I got my license just recently and I have been sending out resumes like crazy!

I am in California and we couldn't work as a GVN. We actually had to wait till we received a license. Finding a job is not easy and you can easily find multiple posts here regarding the same. I would suggest applying to every facility within a 50 mile radius. Many people limit themselves from distance, time, pay, etc...your job success will all depend on you & how bad you really want this. My 1st LVN job was thru a nursing temp agency and I had to drive about 45 miles one way. The thing was no one was willing to give me a chance and this agency was. You have to think outside the box and grab what you can get. All you need is 1 place willing to give you a chance. Good luck!!
Thanks so much for the advice!!
