I'm considering a move from California to Scottsdale/Phoenix. What's the outlook for a new CNA and Phlebotomist in the area? Decent pay and opportunities? The goal would be to get work with either or both of those certs while working toward RN.
Any advice on good nursing programs in the area would also be appreciated.
Thx,
Mike

well, there are a lot of jobs for CNA's here, I'm sure the pay is less than CA though, due to the cost of living adjustment. But they really don't seem to be paid too highly. At least, that has been my observation but I am not an expert in the area.
As for Nursing schools, you can get in to one quickly if you have a lot of money to spend on a private one. Or you can play the waiting game with the Maricopa Community Colleges. I've heard that they have a 3 semester waiting list... But I've also heard that people who have gotten on the fellows programs, like for Banner Hospital or Boswell were able to get in within 6 months of acceptance... but I've also heard horror stories, like people waiting for longer than a year.
Your biggest problem will be adjusting from that great CA weather to here :-)

I'd say your chances are great for CNA work. Fairly well for phlebotomy. Cna's make anywhere from $8-$15 depending on where you work and your experience. I know my friend is a nurse at a LTC facility and they pay their cna's $15. But, jobs in healthcare are plentiful out here. Indeed.com is a great place to look!
