Job prospects for a new grad in Boston?!

I know this topic has been exhausted in this forum, but I'm really concerned about finding a job when I graduate, and I'd love some advice.

I'll be starting my Acclerated BSN soon, and after I graduate I may be moving to Boston to be with my boyfriend.

Considering how difficult it seems to be for a new grad to find a job in Boston, can you guys offer me any advice on how to get ahead, or where to look for a job?

Thanks so much for your help! I'm so excited about being a nurse.

PS - My boyfriend would be a grad student at MIT, which means we'd be living somewhere around there, if that helps.

Thanks, again!

Hi there. :) Yeah it's really tough to finda job out here..it took me months! I work at BIDMC. Try applying there. They are actually good about calling people in for interviews and stuff. MGH and Brigham take forever....and MGH was like my dream hospital..oh well. I really like the BI though. Good luck with the job hunt!

I must echo Lena's statement. I was offer, and accepted a job at Beth Israel (BIDMC). I got the job before finishing school but worked on the floor as a Tech. It appears that if you dont have a foot in the door, getting a job may take much longer. Good luck in your search.

I certainly have to chime in on this one :lol2: From personal experience, I would suggest if you can work as a PCA do it...it may put you on the hire list. I'd also suggest that while in school give some thought to where you'd like to work and perhaps at the beginning of your last semester, start to apply to those places. Attend job fairs, get business cards from the nurse recruiter so that you have a name to send your app/ resume to.

I wish lots of sucess in school...good luck
