job interview for new grad advice

Hello fellow nurses,

I just finished nursing school and I have an interview in the same unit where I did my senior practicum at a level I trauma unit. I was looking for some advice for my interview, especially advice for new grads like me. This is my dream unit and I don't want to ruin my interview.

Thank you,

Esme12, ASN, BSN, RN

Specializes in Critical Care, ED, Cath lab, CTPAC,Trauma. Has 41 years experience.

They already "know you" so take a deep breath. My one BIG suggestion is to not indicate that this is for that one year and off to NP/CRNA school even if it is your plan. Hospitals are getting tired training new grads to have the leave after that one year. When the ask you where do you see yourself in 5 years...you can say that you see yourself a seasoned member of the unit. If asked about continuing education say yes for education is always the best way to improve practice and be a better informed nurse if asked what are you planning be vague and that you haven't decided what you want only that it will include further education.

Good Luck!

Has 2 years experience.

Yes, just what Esme said. Congratulations on graduating and best wishes on NCLEX and your interview!
