Hi,
I am just working a minimum wage job right now as I finish up my prerequisites. However, this is my last quarter. If I get accepted into a BSN program it won't be starting for at least 5-8 months. Anyone have any ideas of how to make extra cash or get a better paying job for a few months? I won't be able to work when I am in a BSN program so I want to get extra cash. A minimum wage job is just not going to cut it when I am on in school anymore.
Thanks!

How about being a bartender or waiter? The best paying part-timers I can think of without a degree.

my boyfriend delivered pizzas for a while & made pretty good money. it worked out to about $15/hour, but it was only part time.
i'd definitely go with the bartender thing. a friend said she made almost as much working as a bartender during nursing school as she did as a nurse when she got out of school. who knows the veracity of that, but HEY! it's quick money.

I've been bartending for the last 8 years, during my first degree and between that one and now. The money is good, but you generally can't just walk into a job. You have to know how to bartend, and many bars/restaurants start you off as a server first even if you know how to work at a bar. If it's just for a few months, you're better off just waiting tables. It takes time to get decent shifts at a bar too.

I sell Mary Kay. I don't really have time to do shows but I give out books and samples to all my classmates and friends. I'm not the pushy type but I've done pretty well with it. There are tons of direct sales type stuff so there is bound to be something you like enough to share with your friends.

If no one has mentioned it already, I will... get out of credit card debt, car loan debt, and downsize your life-style. While you are at it sell your stuff. Continue to work a full-time job and add a part-time job to save up. Also look into obtaining scholarships and/or sponsors.
If you are dead set against the ADN-RN-BSN route, then understand that your education will cost you way more then it will be worth especially if you end up taking out loans. By the way, I am not saying anything I have not done myself. And I have two degrees and am paying cash going the ADN-RN-BSN route. Good luck! :wink2:
