A homecare job I was applying to for per diem hours asked a question on the job application about who my malpractice carrier was and to provide my policy number.
I provided it as the time, but after thinking about it for a bit and researching it on Allnurses, it left a bad taste. Some posters were saying you shouldn't let an employer know if you have it or not.

Some employers require it. I'm assuming this organization is one such employer.

In my 30 years in homecare, I've never been asked about nursing malpractice insurance nor would I supply my policy number. I am concerned that this employer does not have its own legal coverage and would attempt to shift any liability onto your carrier. What is the rationale given to you re wanting policy info??
