i thought having an RN license would give me peace, actually it did. just not thinking about the exam and actually sleeping with no meds and numbers haunting you feels good. but after passing for a month, receiving my license and applying for jobs online.. i feel frustrated.
i am in houston and seriously i am now having doubts that they are even hiring new grads. w/ no experience, with no certificates. or if they are even hiring ---
so much to say but i can't complain, God gave me this blessing and i should be glad and contented. but i just wna move on - work. im n asking for a big salary, just enough for a NEW nurse.
maybe i should try and look harder. im done with the medical center.i waited for a week, i thought maybe someone would call. but nah, im losing hope. time to look beyond the medical center.
anybody here from HOUSTON??? who recently passed.. this year. do u guys have jobs already?
where?? and how long after the boards?

You have to realize you are not the only one in this situation. It's very frustratiing. I have been licensed since July. However, because I did not intend to stay in Houston, I had not applied for any of the internships offered. And I left the country for a while. Now I have been applying here in Houston since September and still nothing. I just thought the job would be easy to obtain...different story. We just have to remain patient and optimistic, it will come. Hopefully by January most of us new nurses would have been able to get into an internship. Good luck to you on your job hunt.

A few months ago, it made me very sad when I realized that the 'no jobs for new grads' situation was finally hitting Houston. Unfortunately, it appears that we have reached the same saturation point as other major cities and this has had a terrible effect on our new grads.
New grads in Houston should not to limit their applications only to organizations that can afford to host formal internship or residency programs. These programs are very expensive and most hospitals cannot afford them any longer, particularly since they have so few jobs available these days. The new grad programs in the med center are usually filled very quickly with students who do their clinicals in those facilities. I would also advise you to focus on smaller suburban facilities. They may not have formal new grad programs, but can provide a very effective orientation that is customized for your needs
yes. i already listed all the LTC facilities, nursing homes and home health around my area. even those 40 mins away from my home. i just want to have a job so bad. GOOD LUCK to all for the job hunting. update us!
