I go to JCC for the ADN program. I'll graduate in Dec this year, !! What sorts of questions do you have? I can tell you that overall, the program is pretty unorganized, but I'm sure you've either heard that before, or are experiencing it now.

I waited until I had all my pre-reqs completed before entering the program, but that was by choice. I'd heard about the workload, between clinicals and all the studying, so I just thought I'd get all the other stuff out of the way 1st. I'm really glad I did. I even went for a class the first summer, and the second summer finished up A&PII and the CNA course. Last summer and this are the only two that I've not gone to school.

2nd semester was by far the best organized, and had more instructors that I respected. 1st semester had one great one, and she's still there. She is outstanding, and if you are accepted, I'll clue you in on who she is.

Feel free to ask about any other ?'s you might have.

Get your immunizations taken care of. Make sure you have a copy of your high school diploma to cover childhood immunizations. Get a titre drawn for your Hepatits B series (after you complete the 3 shot series!). Make sure you have completed your BLS class and have that card also. Make double or even triple copies of all your paperwork, because the Allied Health Office is notorious for "losing" things, or saying they never got them.

hmm. I don't recall being asked for either a physical or a drug test. I asked another classmate of mine and she didn't remember that either, so unless something's changed, I think you're clear there.

You will have to pay for liability ins., but that's only like 20-25 bucks, and then there's one other fee that I can't even remember what it's for, but it's another 20 or so dollars. You should get a packet of information in the mail with all that if you're accepted.

FYI, the books for 101 are a bit over $1000.. and you'll need clinical uniforms, which are all white whatevers. (pants, top, etc) You also have to have a lab coat for when you go pick up assignments at the hospital the night before your clinicals. You can probably use the same lab coat you had from Micro, unless you bought a throw away one.

I'll cross my fingers for you. How many other classes are you taking this Fall, or how many others do you need besides the nursing classes?

I'm not sure about IUS, but I know for at least UL, you'll need the Chemistry, Nutrition, Statistics, ... umm.. I can't remember what else right now. Oh- did you take the College Algebra or the math that JCC accepts for nursing? Because I know for the BSN you'll need College Algebra.

I love the terminology professor. She's great! It's an easy "A" and will keep your GPA up for sure.
