Jeez...I need advice...

Hello to anyone bothering to read this thread.. I'm an all nurses stalker for about five years now and this is my second post. Unfortunately, my first thread never got any responses so if I get just one on this thread I would be so thankful. Anywho, I have a conundrum and it's a very common issue but for some reason I just can't make a decision.

I started an ASN program a few years back and I have recently started the steps to re-enroll. However, my program is not accredited and has been placed on probation by the BON. I was already hesitatent to to sign back up in the first place but my family is pressuring to me just do it and get it over with since I only have a year left.

Alternatively, I been thinking about just starting Erwins LPN program and then get an RN later on, after I finish my prerequisites ( I don't have any now) and then apply to an accredited program

I'm having such a hard time making a decision, I really want to go back but I don't want to ruin my education with an unaccredited program and with family members pushing the issue I'm starting to think I'm making a big deal for no reason.. Should I just finish my unaccredited program or go the LPN route?

Oh and if anyone is wondering why I would even think to go unaccredited it the same reasons as everyone else...kids, no wait list..etc plus I really love my current program...

Why not do your prerequisites and go to an accredited school? Maybe a community college? Less money and you'll be sure you can sit for your boards. You can do it with kids and I haven't heard of wait lists around here. But only you can decide

My honest opinion, why will u want to go to an unaccredited school?? That is a total n senseless decision pardon my language, i don't care who is pressuring you, its different if u dont know that the school is unaccredited, you know they r not accredited so why waste time, money n effort n at the end of the day ur education dont count, especially if its nursing...

I would say be a full-time student if u can, take full units which is 3 classes each semester this includes winter, spring, fall, summer. In one yr u will be done. Then apply to the RN ACCREDITED program, which is 4 semesters. Before u know it u r done.

Or u can do d lpn program but be sure it is accredited!! Tho with the lpn program one tend to get comfortable with it n don't go further for a longtime.

Thank so much for replying..

The accreditation issue is really bothering me.. but I guess I'm on the fence since all of my nursing friends have gone there and didn't have any issues finding a job..but the difference is most them had completed another degree elsewhere so continuing education wouldn't be a problem for them but would be for me..

Yeah I just need to do what I think is best even if it will take longer..The job market is so tough that I need to be as marketable as possible and an unaccredited program would be several strike against me off the bat..Thanks again you guys this really helped!!!

Not accredited & on the BON probation list, not worth your time and especially your money. Why would you pay for education you either can't use or use to it's desired capacity?? It's like saying "here, take my money, but possibly give me nothing in return". Don't listen to other people who are pressuring you, it's not their life, money and livelihood, it's yours, do what you need to do and do what actually counts. Does it suck taking a longer route, absolutely, but it makes getting there that much more sweet when you arrive! Good luck!

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. There is a school in Tampa where I can do the bridge program but it's not accredited. Others have passed boards and even work at Tampa General after they graduated. Maybe I will direct messaged them on Facebook to get their situation but my husband says to NEVER go to an unaccredited school ever, he works in education and knows his stuff. My issue is that to get into HCC's bridge program you have to have 1,000 hours in nursing for the past 3 yrs. when you enter into the program. I've only done short, erratic jobs working in pediatric home home health for the past 13 yrs. So now what? And I tried to take and pass Anatatomy 1 and couldn't get higher than a D so dropped it and not sure what to do now. I did take the Eng 1101 and 02 but still need math and the anatomies and microbiolgy. I do have a school nurse interview next week so we'll see. I really wish I'd skipped LPN school altogether though and just did the 4 yr. RN schooling. Now I'm 50 and my memory sucks.

don't ever go to place that is on probation, starting as a LPN is good because you can work and pay for your RN without getting in too much debt. rent the books instead of buying and check on amazon they always has good deals

anatomy is hard, there are 3 "things I did and passed with flying colors, I am not smarter than anyone so 1. pictures with flash cards.

2.a white board with markers in different colors and I drew and drew and drewww lol every body part, blood circulation, part of the heart and the way cells looked like etc

3. TOUCH, yes touch your child, husband, mother to get familiar and understand the body parts, I am in nursin 2 and know I understand how important to know anatomy is
