Hi guys,
I am currently taking my last two pre-reqs (Micro/human nutrition) to apply for an ABSN at JU and UF. (also looking into FSCJ, SJRSC, and Fortis). I am freaking out because my GPA from my B.S. SUCKS. I was an athlete and was more focused on that then I was focused on school. I have a 3.07 in Therapeutic Recreation and currently work at Memorial as an Activity Therapist.
Here's how my grades stack up:
A&P1- B
A&P2- A
Chem lec- C+
Chem Lab- A
Stats- B
Psych requirement: A
Human Growth: C
Mirco/Nut TBD
Is it a lost cause to try and get into the JU and UF Jax program because my GPA is so low? I just got my CNA, I work in a hospital, and I feel like I have a great interview skills/writing skills. UF is my first choice but after researching it I feel like there is no way that I'll get into the program because my grades are so low. Should I just go to Fortis since you don't have to apply to get in? I'd rather go to a school that isn't "technical" because I feel like you're less likely to get hired, and I will only come out with my ASN. Help!!

Hello,
Most hospitals care that you graduated from an accredited school and pass the NCLEX-RN in order to hire you. Apply wherever the program is accredited by... CCNE - Accredited Programs Most schools ask for a 3.0 GPA. Highly competitive schools will be harder to get accepted, but you should not have a problem finding a school that will accept you.
Hope this helps!
