After a couple of years going back & forth in my mind... I decided to go to school to be a nurse! I just wonder how it's all gonna pan out considering I have 2 small children (3 total) & I'm really not a fan of school  !!! I'm scheduled to start my pre req in Sept. Any words of encouragement... cmon don't all yell at once! Lol!

Just make sure this is what you really want to do, and if it is regardless of the struggle it will be well worth it . Your kids will be proud of you and you'll have a great career . Best of wishes in your journey .

I would highly encourage you to also get your PCT or CNA prior to your Nursing Program

I'd say sit down, think it out to the best of your knowledge. Honestly, I trickled around on this site for a couple of months before I sealed the decision on wanting Nursing to be the career of the rest of my life. You'll come across many stories, some inspirational, some seem as if they are nightmares. Your career will be filled with both. Make sure you can find the amount of dedication in your heart that it takes for Nursing School. If this is something you really want, you'll find a way to make it work, even if it's just along the way. You can plan something out all you want, you may even think it's the perfect plan, but never rely on that - one thing can happen to change the course of outcome of everything. Just read around, do some soul searching, make sure this is truly what you want for you and your kids. In the end, it's a huge advantage for yourself and your family. I wish you the best of luck! :)

I think you will be fine. It makes a huge difference to go to school to learn a trade/skill that you want to do. Also, I think the older we become our perspectives on education changes. I found going back to school to be a lot easier than the first time I earned my undergraduate degree. The difference in maturity level certainly helped me to succeed the second time around.

Good luck to you and enjoy it!

Thanks for the insight... it's greatly appreciated! I have thought long & hard about it & I decided that's the route I'm gonna take. After being in the healthcare field for sometime I feel as though this is where I belong because I'm good at it & I really have something to offer being a nurse. So I say no more procrastination on my end... time to put my best foot fwd! I'm just happy I found a place like this for moral support! Lol! Thanks again...
