Hello guys! I'm starting a thread for students who applied for the Spring 2015 Joliet Junior College RN program (so if you're just starting or if you're transitioning) I'm been an LPN since 2009 and actually applied the VERY last day! I had other plans until my mind was changed a few days prior.
I studied for the ATP LPN Predictor for about 2-3 days, prayed a lot and just took it. I passed with a 70! Whew!! I have all of my BSN prereqs done aside from Stats and Chem. I'm working on 2 others already this semester. (I need Chem to transfer to where I want to go).
I'm worried because the 3 science classes I took I got C's. I took Micro and AP1 in the same semester, while working, PLUS both being 6 week classes. I missed B's in both by a small amount (noooo!). I have a 2.98 GPA, A's in: both English classes, Philosophy, Psychology 101, Computers, Soc 290, Speech, History.
I'm worried about my C's in : Bio 149, Bio 250, Micro, Psych 2, and Nutrition (man i HATED that class! lol).
Anyone else apply? I'm sure your grades are much better hahaha I'm hoping I have a chance being an LPN plus getting a decent score on the exam (68 is "automatically in" unless there's a ton of applicants that scored this or higher). Anyone else whose gone can pitch in too!!! Thanks!!!
Has anyone done the LPN to RN Transition? Did you find the LPN to RN Transition course difficult? I found out if I get accepted for next semester, I have to take Chem along with that course....

I haven't yet. Waiting on my letter to see if I'm accepted or not. My nerves are getting the best of me. I scored a 70 on the entrance exam, someone else on this forum scored a 76. Hopefully I'll be one of the lucky one to start in January 2016. I have all the courses except the sociology.
I was told I have to take only 3 classes (each with clinicals), but It's still going to take a year. I've heard those classes are pretty time consuming and difficult. Yes, I'm hoping they tell us soon too. It's going on 2 weeks soon. I'm debating on starting there or just going straight for my BSN at USF. I also hear there are days and evening classes. Anyone know how that works?
jhubbard LOL we scored the same. My other LPN friend scored a 68. I know, I want to know already too....sigh...
Nevermind! I just saw this! " day classes start at 8am and night classes go from about 4pm-10pm. I chose evening. Jorie mentioned that there are only 24 spots for night classes and 60-some spots for day classes. Most, though, prefer day classes." I know my friend (she has no kids or husband though), was working full time hours and doing the LPN to RN program. She's a super smart girl and did really well. she keeps pushing me to do jjc and waiting on USF LOL Even gave me all of her books!
So they have two options for LPN to RN? I thought it was only day choice. OMG if it's an evening track that would work great for me if I were to get accepted. I have kids, a husband and work full-time. This waiting is getting the best of me. I have a friend who is in her last semester at JJC and she told me to relax and stay positive. they won't send anything out until October.
Well 68 is guarantee admission. So far that's four ppl who scored enough to get in
yeah i think its definately doable. And I completely understand-i have a 2 year old and 2 older children. The more prereq's you have done, the easier. But even if you haven't done a class, you can possibly do it after the program. My friend did that with micro. and sorry but i think micro is more important than soc. lol They decide October 15. Take Mrs. Johnson for Soc! Easy A!!
OCT 15.... i guess I can stop checking my messages every two hours then. Thanks for the heads up for the Sociology class.
After reading different blogs on this site, it seems as if JJC is sending out ALL nursing emails on the 15th. For the transition program and RN program. I should find something else to think about because my nerves are not built for this lol
