Ok, i'm majorily FREAKING OUT!! I'm scheduled for the NCLEX on July 1st. I took Kaplan and felt confident that with my scores I would have a good chance of passing NCLEX. However the one thing I noticed about Kaplan was they kept bringing up the same topics over and over and over again. I just assumed they did that on purpose because they were the most tested topics on the NCLEX. Well since I've done the Kaplan questions a million times and memorized/can recongize most of the answers, I figured I would start doing some Saunders questions (3rd edition.) The only time I used Saunders to study was when I only had a few minutes so I would use the CD and do a quiz (only 10 questions) or do the questions from the book, and I always scored well (80% or higher.) Well I just did an exam from the CD which is 100 questions and I got a 70%. I know a 70% is considered a good grade for Kaplan, but I think I should be doing better considering I used Saunders. I just felt like when I was doing the Saunder's exam I saw some topics and I was like "what?!?!" AHhhh... what should I do?! I'm freaking out!!! This describes exactly how I feel right now ---->:scrm:

You're not supposed to feel good about it. That's what's so evil about the NCLEX ...... it's a test in which you get half the questions wrong.
Your scores are good though. It sounds like you've been doing a lot of questions/tests each day, and that's all you can do.
Have you tried taking the Mosby CAT yet? When I had about a week left before the test, I started taking the Mosby CATs and it helped tie everything together for me .... it helped a lot because it's in CAT form, just like the NCLEX (if you get a question wrong it gives you an easier one, if you get it right if gives you a harder one). At the end of the test it gives you a probability of passing the NCLEX. Just a thought.
Try to relax and good luck to you!
Thank you for responding! I never even heard of the Mosby CAT until last night when I was reading about it on this message board. I wish I knew about it earlier. For now I think I'm just going to do 100 questions a day from Saunders, and redo 50 questions from Kaplan and review some of the material and hope for the best. I'm basically just putting all of my trust in Kaplan. God I hope I pass!!

Don't review material but look and understand the rationale to the ones you get wrong. In most cases it is understanding what to look for in the question. You already know your stuff it is now a case of looking at what is asked of you
oh man oh man.
Please I need your advice!! I am freaking out!!!!!
I just took another 100 question exam on the Saunders CD and I got a 73! I thought the 70 I got on the first exam was just a fluke, but I guess it wasn't. How can I get passing or close to passing grades on Kaplan and barely pass Saunders? I'm taking the NLCEX on Tuesday!! Ahh...!! I'd really rather not push the nclex back, I'm soo sick of studying. What's a girl to do!? Did anyone else take the 100 ques exam on Saunder's CD? If so what was your score?
THANKS!

I know what u are going thru. But I have decided to just do tons of questions daily. First I will finish my Kaplan qt and then do a mix of kaplan qbank and saunder. I do well with saunders quizzes too but I have not tried a test yet.
The only thing we all can do is try our best. I know that our best may not be good enough. But we are trying our best by preparing the best way we can. There is no magic way, I think by doing questions, reading and understanding the rationales of the ones we have trouble with and then doing more of those problem areas, that is all we can do.
I have given myself a plan, I take the test on July 9, and I will prepare by taking tests, doing 100-200 questions/day and understanding rationales. Time will tell if this was MY best way.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps...oh may the force be with us...:) :)
emilysmom and claralon-
Thank you for responding!! :icon_hug:I know there is still so much more I need to review, I just feel like I hit a wall and can no longer focus at all. All I find myself doing is searching this site for previous poster's kaplan scores and if they passed the nclex when I should be studying! This is sooo frustrating!! I think I may do what you're doing Clara and just stick w/Kaplan.
Thanks again guys! You're the best!
That's what were here for and I'm glad I have moral support. I will think of you as I sit for NCLEX...I have found myself doing the same thing and checkin this website to see how other passed and what they got on kaplan. Its hard as it is and these last three days I will just focus on meds and spend time with my baby who will calm my anxiety. I have no more questions so I guess I will just review. I don't want to read any other material. I will just read the meds from the kaplan blue book. And I know after we take the test we will once again be anxious for the results, but we finished qbank and the trainers so according to kaplan we have a 95 percent of passing!!!!! Keep in touch...and I can't wait for Tuesday...

73% is fine. Just relax and keep taking tests and reading rationales. If I got in the 80% range on any of the practice tests I took then I was on the high end. I typically got 65-80% and passed NCLEX with 75 Q's. I know people who would only get 55-60% on practice tests and passed.

Also remember that Saunder's questions seem to be more picky and test more on content. I haven't taken Kaplan, but from what I've heard they are more like the NCLEX questions and the critical thinking process, instead of seeing if you can recall some random fact.

Thanks for this thread! I am worried too, and I am also sick of studying! My scores on Saunders are 68-85% but lately a lot of 70's. I pushed my date back from 7/10 to 7/16, but I don't want to push it anymore. I hope I pass, I can't afford the q-bank. I did however buy the Kaplan book and did the test in the back and scored a 76. I've done about, 1700 questions already, and I'm really getting tired!:scrm:What do you guys think?
