I am currently enrolled with EC in the ASN program, more than half way through actually. The VA BON decision has me rethinking that route, since my hubby works for Fed Gov and I may end up in Virginia at some point.
I have done some digging for info, applied to ISU, and had a meeting with the College Network rep, and talked briefly with someone at the ISU distance program. The initial hurdle that I can see is getting the Algebra and Chemistry credits.
The College Network rep talked about obtaining these with the CLEP exams. From the forums I've been surfing, those are 2 very tough exams to pass, particularly since ISU requires a 65 or higher to qualify for Algebra. I have only seen 1 post on another forum of someone that passed the Algebra Clep, and none for Chem.
For those of you that are in the ISU LPN-RN program, how did you get over hurdle to obtain those credits?? If I have to I can take the classes at the college down the road, but I'm hoping for an alternative route, either an online class or someone that actually took these exams and passed that wasn't a math prodigy.
thanks in advance for the info,
Lisa

I didn't do the ISU program, but I have CLEPped Chem. It was sort of difficult, but it is do-able. I used my husband's chem textbook to study for it, and used the practice tests from the CLEP official study guide. Good luck to you. :)
Thanks for the info, nice to hear from someone that did actually pass this CLEP, I was beginning to wonder.
How long did you take to study for this?
thanks,
I studied about 4 weeks for this exam.

Hi Lisa,
I'm waiting to see if you get any replys on that Algebra clep. I'm studying for it right now, and like you I've not found anyone that has posted on the internet a passing score at 65 or above (found a few that passed in the 50's). There also seems to be agreement that time is too tight on that one, most can not finish, so the 80% mark seems a bit depressing right now.
There are a lot of resources on line, look at "paul's online math notes" he does a great job of breaking down college algebra in 60 little units. Also Utah valley college has videos online "math 1050" you can watch the whole course. If you've had intermediate algebra or algebra 2 already I think this is do able. good luck
