Issues on Background-Can I be a nurse??

Published

]Hello-

]

]I am currently taking my pre-requirement classes needed before I can start nursing school. I was wondering if I could even obtain a nursing license in the state of Colorado. I have 2 issues on my criminal background check in Texas (I use to live in Texas).

]

]Issue #1: 2003 I had a bounced check. At first it was classified as Theft from $20-$500 but after I paid all the fees it was classified as Issuance of a Bad Check.

]

]Issue #2: 2005 I had a bounce check in a different county. After I paid the fees the judge gave me a Motion to Dismiss letter (I think this is means all charges are dropped.)

]

]I was living out of state and didn't know I had bounced checks. I was married at the time and my loser :angryfireex husband:angryfire would always take money from our joint account without telling me and before I knew it I wasn't able to keep track of our finances and accrued tons of fees and bounced checks. I paid all of the checks as I received notice from the places that I wrote the checks too but unfortunately I didn't receive anything from the 2 incidents.

]

]I am now a single parent and would love to become a nurse and provide a better life for my son. I just hope these two issues don't hurt my chances of obtaining my nursing license in Colorado. I tried contacting the Nursing Board in Colorado and all I was told was that I had to submit all of my information.

]

]I am planning on going to the courthouses and speaking to a judge to try and get these issues off of my criminal background.

]

]Does anyone have any information or suggestions? Has anyone been in my situation in the state of Colorado?

]

]Thank you in advance for all you information!!

As the above poster has just informed you we are unable to answer these questions, you need to speak to the Board of Nursing and maybe get some legal advice.
