I am being offered $30 per hour in San Francisco, is that ok or not? I am not familiar with the cost of living in SFO.

You can rent a decent place, one bedroom for maybe $1000-$1200 a month in a decent area in the San Francisco Bay Area..It might not be in San Francisco but the surrounding cities..

I would not accept $30 per hour. Maybe in LA, but you should definitely be able to do better than that in the Bay Area. Look around for other opportunities.

I would say no. There are other places in CA that offer that much to start with a lot lower cost of living. I would not take that offer.

I am working at the most competitive paying hospital in San Francisco, and I started at $47/hr as a GN last year. Since then, i have had 3 raises and now making $51/ hr. $30/hr is definately not a competitive rate -- keep looking!
Which hospital?? I am moving!! Is this including diffs?

Me too count me in. But would someone with a family want to live in SF? Young kids...single mom...
My hourly rate includes the shift differential for working night shifts. I work for the reputable California Pacific Medical Center (Sutterhealth Affiliate) in San Francisco.
There are many family friendly areas in the Bay area...Walnut Creek, Pacifica, Marin.....
How much is a decent starting in SFO then to survive its COL?
