Is a 3.3 Science GPA A Deal Breaker for California ADN Programs?

Published

I got an A in Physio and a B in both Micro and Anatomy and feel absolutely crushed.

I was one percent away from an A in Anatomy and I feel like nursing school is going to be close to impossible now. I'm probably being dramatic but I just needed to vent.

If you score high on your teas you might be ok. If you’re near Ventura county there is a program with a waitlist. As long as you have at least a C in your pre-reqs you go on the list. It might take three years to get in, but you’ll eventually. The school is Ventura Community College if you want to check it out.

3 Years is a very long wait, but that's reassuring.

I have hard that California nursing programs are very competitive (not to scare you), so I think that you should try retaking the class if the school allows you to. Having a competitive GPA is important, especially if the competition for nursing school is crazy in your area.

I actually graduated from Ventura College Nursing Program. Many programs no longer have waitlists, its all point based. To original poster, You'll be fine. I had an A in Physio and B in both Micro and Anatomy and an 80.7% on my TEAS V and got into both VC and Moorpark. Do well on your TEAS and you should have no issue getting in

Wow that's awesome to hear! I guess I've overreacted a lil. I'll make sure to get as many points as possible then.

Did u have ur Bachelor's already and medical experience?

And were u a first time applicant?

I got into Ventura for Fall 2019 with NO waitlist. I got an A in physiology and Micro, but a B in anatomy. I got an 88% on my teas. These stats got me into college of the canyons, Glendale, and Ventura. So it’s not hopeless just score high on your Teas!

For Copper Mountain College in Joshua tree its points based with no waitlist, B or better in pre reqs is required. Teas not required, but if you get in "conditionally" you take the HESI and need over an 80% in their required sections to continue with the program. DON'T repeat the classes, repeats affect your total points.

Nice, def going to aim for 85% or higher in the TEAS.

I did have 6 months CNA experience, and an AA in general studies. I started the program when I was 20 y/o, so no I did not have a previous bachelors. Yes, I was a first time applicant, and got in right away. I wouldn't sweat it too much
