Is Saunder's CD harder than the NCLEX?

Is Saunder's CD Review harder than the actual NCLEX? Any comments? Thanks.

I did alot of questions from saunders before my nclex and I would say they are not really harder but longer . I recommend getting the Kaplan strategy book , I think it was helpful to my passing the boards because they explain the analytical type questions most likely seen on the boards. So you can learn exactly what the question is asking. You dont even have to spend a pennie I got it at a local liabrary. Most people form my class who really understood this book and had good nursing content knowledge ,passed. GOOD LUCK!!!

I second the above. Saunders is really great for studying content & you should also take note of the strategies in their book too. Kaplan is really good for getting to grips with the critical thinking skills that you will need to master in order to pass the real thing.

I think Saunders questions are easier than Kaplan but they are still helpful.

Kaplan questions were much more like those that I had in the real exam but I think Saunders was the most helpful in the initial content studying that I did.

Saunders is really good for reviewing content in my opinion. Kaplan helped with the most difficult questions.

No way -- my opinion: I agree with the other responders here -- Saunders was a great content review, but the questions on NCLEX were much harder. Conclusion: you need to "layer" your studying. I mean use a bunch of different tools, in order to cover all of your bases. Saunders is your content review, Flip-O-Matic was my drug review, Q-bank was my NCLEX question-style review, etc. Best of luck and give yourself plenty of time to be as prepared as possible for any question that they may give you.

I would say that they are similar in one way or another. Saunders was my TOOL for passing the NCLEX. I have tried different books. NSNA, KAPLAN, MOSBY, LIPPINCOTT but it was the SAUNDERS I was so comfortable with. I did the comprehensive, Q&A and CD. If you ask me which was harder?? hmmmm I would say NCLEX. hehehehe

I have to agree with you that Saunders questions were quite long compared to NCLEX. They did help me to think, and that was a good thing. I found, though, that even the book became to be cumbersome, and began studying from Delmars...it was more concise for me. Saunders was a phenomenal resource while studying in school..I used that more than my textbooks, but for NCLEX...it gave me more details than what I really needed.

i used saunders 3rd edition, cd and q&a and cd. i just took the nclex nov 22. no results yet but i feel pretty ok. i found saunders to being very helpful. the nclex question formart is much more straight forward and yes shorter than the saunders. it is a little more difficult. saunders helped me alot. good luck to you! :)

I used the Saudners Q&A, Saunders Comprehensive Review, and Kaplan Strategies. I would say that the NCLEX questions were harder for me. There were a few short questions, but many of them were long, and I had quite a few select all that apply. My advice concerning the select all that apply, I decided not to worry about them in the Saunders book because I figured at the most I would get 1 or 2 and I was willing to miss them. In reality I got 6-7 and I am sure I still missed them all. I have my fingers crossed that they were the future test experimental items.

I think that the actual NCLEX was harder than the Saunders questions. NCLEX seemed more vague or something, or it wasn't as easy to eliminate possible answers. I pretty much used Saunders exclusively, I did the moderators Suzannes plan and I passed with 75 questions. I think it is a great content review and goes over almost everything you learned in school. I bought the Kaplan strategies book, it only comes with 360 questions, but to be honest I didn't really use the strategies, unless I was doing unconsciously. I also used Saunders for my last 2 semesters of nursing school as a study tool, and I think my grades on exams improved. Just do tons of questions!

Hey guys i found out last night that I passed my NCLEX at 85 questions. I think the NCLEX questions are more straight forward than the Saunders. Almost every single question was a priority question.. and I don't remember doing a lot of those using Saunders. But overall i think Saunders is an excellent tool and I would highly recommend using it! :lol2:
