I have 8 pre-requisites. I plan to take 4 in spring 2009 and then take another 4 in summer 2009. I know summer term is a short term. So is it possible for me to take 4 classes ( all is humanity courses, 3 credit/class)during that short time?
Thanks!

I would say it depends on what else you have to do! If you can devote 100% of your time to schoolwork, then yes, it can be done. I feel your pain as I have 5 science courses to get done before Fall! It will take a lot of time and effort on your part, but if you have good study habits, you will get through it! Good Luck!

It depends on what classes they are. A lot of the classes I have done have been over summer sessions. If your school has separate summer sessions like mine, one around June and another around August, I would do 6 credits in the first session and 6 in the second session.

Hey, I've done it. Well, not for summer at least. What I do is take 19-21 [quarter units] every quarter. For Spring '09, I'm gonna be taking 19 semester units (medical terminology, medical transcription, human nutrition, etc etc)
I'm used to taking a lot of classes every semester, so it's nothing surprising for me.
And no, I've never failed any of my classes so far. My worst grade yet is a B.
So yes, it is possible. You just have to devote your time into it.

It is possible if you don't work. If you do work, I doubt it highly.

CSantos, you are a unique and different personality. I would venture to say that you are more likely a type 'A' personality and very, very driven and goal oriented. You don't see obstacles, you see opportunities and you like to be prepared for anything.
I have a similar personality but a Type B but a Type A when it comes to my school and career goals. However, I am not as driven as you but close. I've read many of your post and I dare say that most people would not do the amount of preparation that you do before your class starts.
I said that to say this, while it is possible to take 4 classes and work full time, if they are hard science classes and you work full time, it is not a good combination if you want to get As/Bs as you won't have a life. Most of your time will be required for studying and homework.
If someone is willing to have the motivation and drive to do the work required, they will be successfull, however, most people aren't that committed.
I am taking Micro, AP2 and Nutrition this Spring and I have already contacted my professors for the syllabus and the chapters that will be covered the first 2 wks of class. I work full time and I have started to study ahead now. I know that this semester will be challenging but I will read all my class lectures every day and try to stay ahead with the chapters and take vacation days on the day of the test.
This semester I got 4.0- all A's for Psych, Sociology, AP1 and I worked 2 jobs 60+hrs a week so I know it is possible but most people aren't dedicated.
Good luck to the OP

It is possible but here is my experience. I work 40 hrs per wk M-F 7-4 and over last summer I took 3 classes as well. Humanities(3 cred), Medical Terminology (3 cred) and Algebra (4 cred). I will never do that again over a summer semester. I had so much homework in Alg that I dont know how I even got through the other classes. I spent every waking hour outside of work at school or doing homework. I dont even think I saw my 5 yr old that whole time. So yes it can be done if you dont have anything else in your life. Me personally for summer of 09 I am going to take AP1 and maybe one other little class. AP1 is 4 nights a week M-Th...

Hi new goal... I am a very much type B kind of guy... If i dont keep at it i will procrastinate!!! i suffered from it, and learned with it!!!
i would forget to pay bills, forget to do my homework, forget to do a whole bunch of things!!!
Now i have to keep at it, I thought my self how to live right, and get the most of what i am doing...
School for me, is not an option, i dont have parents to fall back on, neither fafsa to pick up the bill and let me pay it after.
I have to do what i have to do, once i decided to do it! (got it?)
- i figured, since i planned to put my self in this position, i can not comlpain neither whine! I just have to deal with it! and to be honest with you, it is not that difficult when you get the hang of it!
i miss sleeping so much, but whenever i can i hibernate (literaly slept dor 24 hours last weekend!)
my life is:
- go to school,
- go to work
- study at all possible times
- pay my bills
- take a nap (cant call 4 hours sleep)
and wake up for it again!!!
i get here on allnurses, so i can learn, and help out on whatever i can, which is another way to get my brain disrtacted for a bit, without leaving the subject!!!
-i definatelly cut my self some slack though, to clean the house, and watch tv and even play videogame!
I just do nothing else! lol!!!
- i figured, if i invest all i can, it will be less hard and more bearable! plus it is only another year!

I'm going to be taking three classes this summer too, but they include patho, so it's going to feel more like 4. We can do it!
CSantos, You have a great outlook on life. If you noticed, I said that in most things in my life, I'm a Type B personality except when it comes to my personal goals/school then I am driven and convert to a Type A personality.
You will go far. Keep up the attitude. Do you plan to go on and get your BSN?

seriously, reading your posts and the posts of many others here have actually inspired me to get As in all my pre req classes.
im taking AP1 in the spring, and chem in the spring (those are the 2 science classes, and i have others), and planning on taking AP2, and Microbio along with english compo 2 in the summer so all 3 classes.
ill be taking english compo2 in the same session as AP2, and take microbio in the 2nd session in the summer. Each session is 5 weeks, but for 2 weeks, all 3 of these classes will overlap. Plus i have work also. I am really scared right now even just thinking about it... those two weeks will be like hell for me. But your posts actually inspired me; i am going to keep my head up, and keep on heading towards my goal!
p.s: if i get good grades in the 2 classes in the summer (ap2, and microbio) i will get into the nursing program for fall of 09.
wish me luck!
