I'm jumping in with both feet and want to get the ball rolling.
I'm a 33-year-old SAHM of a three-year-old. I have a Bachelor of Arts (Religious Studies) and Bachelor of Journalism (Magazine Design) degree. I want to start knocking out my prereqs and enter into a BSN accelerated program when my daughter heads off to kindergarten.
Here's my question...can I complete all of these prereqs entirely online (without having to visit a campus for tests)?
I'm open to enrolling in online courses from any good, accredited college/university from across the nation.
I live in rural Missouri and am having a hard time finding exactly what I'm looking for locally.
Prereqs:
Anatomy and Physiology I with lab
Anatomy and Physiology II with lab
Microbiology with lab
Nutrition *
Statistics
General Psychology (Already fulfilled.)
Human Growth and Development (across the lifespan) *
* Most interested in these two right now.
PS - Will I be looked down upon for taking online courses? And, would it be odd for me to take classes at various schools?

The science courses and statistics can be done through UNE: University of New England - COM - Online Education - COM Online Education You can take exams online from your home computer with recent changes (you need a video cam and speakers) or you can choose to take exams with a proctor somewhere that you set up. Lots of students get their prereqs done at various schools, no problem there. Online courses usually do not appear as such on a transcript, but if that worries you, call the school and verify that and/or call the program you want to enter and get official acceptance of the courses you intend to take. Thanks so much!!
Anyone else have any insight?

I took Microbiology with lab through Colorado Community Colleges Online also took English Comp 2 there and Human Growth and Development, totally online. They have since raised their online tuition unfortunately. I believe University of Wyoming where I applied has some of the courses you are looking for totally online. hth's
Oh, and I took Statistics totally online through my local community college. You might want to see what your local college has to offer for online classes.

I think that all of these are offered online through Western Iowa Technical Community College.

Is there a particular ABSN program that you want to attend? If so, ask them where other students take the classes. This is a common question to Admissions offices.
At my University, there are some online courses that we will accept, and others that we will not.

has anyone taken A & P's online...if so..how was it and how does lab work....
also..to the poster who took micro online.....how do you do lab?
these 3 are the only ones i have as co-reqs..i get these done then i will just have nursing 2,3,4.....i plan on testing out of nursing 1....
thanks!!
Thanks everyone...I think I may have found a couple of classes to get me started within my state. They are online. Although, the seemingly best school requires proctored tests, which I was hoping to avoid.
Proctored tests are the usual way tests are handled with online courses. Hard to find courses where the tests are not proctored or are done on your home computer.

All of these courses can be fulfilled through edukan.org. I took my micro and chemistry with edukan and my BSN program accepted them, these include lab and are 5 credit courses which some schools require some BSN programs will not accept a 3 or 4 credit science or math class. They have all these classes and more and they are not that expensive, they are $125 per credit hour including people out of state.
Each class has one proctored test that you must take and that's usually the final, but the other tests are not proctored and can be taken at home. http://edukan.org/index.real?action=courses&Cat=C They have 4 sessions each semester so you may have to look at each session to get the class you want but thats a sample of the courses for fall session 1.
