Is it possible to find lecture positions only?

Published

What if someone wanted to only teach by giving lectures and not clinicals in a nursing program? I really do not enjoy hands on nursing but love teaching nurses the paper side/regs/business etc. of their job. My background is specifically in the homecare arena. I was thinking about focusing specifically on community health. Any suggestions?

Yes, these positions exist, but just about always on the university level with nursing instructors who are full-fledged professors with doctorates. These professors concentrate on classroom teaching (both on the undergraduate and graduate level), performing research, and publishing. On the ADN level, instructors are generally expected to have a full clinical load along with classroom instruction. Hope this helps! :)

Thanks Vicky: As always very helpful info. I'm thinking maybe doing adjunct community health courses and work on my doctorate. I wouldn't mind bringing students into the community into different settings ie.shelters, schools. Thanks for the info!
