Hello:
Is there much of a difference between these books (various publishers)? I will be entering nursing school in the fall and have been told to start looking at the nclex books now so to get used to the questions etc.. also have been told to get a "really" good care plan book. I'm assuming I will be hearing about these books in school (?).....
Thanks for any info you can share with me in order to prepare for the fall.
Be well!

The NCLEX book I found that I really like is Davis's NCLEX-RN Success 2nd ed. I really like the way this book is laid out -- makes sense to me. I won't be taking the NCLEX for another year and a half but it really helps to start reading and studying the questions. All my tests so far in NS have been worded NCLEX style. That is what a lot of new students in our class have had trouble with -- testing this format vs. "name the five points of the blah-blah"....you know what I mean? I purchased the book through Barnes & Noble online but they have it in their stores as well. Good luck and enjoy school!

I would highly recommend Saunders Comprehensive--the old version is green, the new one is blue (there is not much difference at all between the two). That is the only book that I used--I found the outlines very helpful when studying for tests in NS, and I used it almost exclusively to study for the NLCEX (which I passed first time).
As far as care plan books go--I never found one that I really, really liked. All-in-one Care Plan Resource by Pamela Swearingen was probably the best of the bunch that I used.
Good luck in school!!

I LOVED the Saunders Comprehensive (I've got the new blue one). My study group would read questions out of the chapters that we were testing on and many of the questions were exactly similar or when reading the rationales it would help us with questions on the test.
Another one I love is NCLEX Made Incredibly Easy - it really is. It's got good questions, but it's simplified and easier to understand.
And I didn't buy an NCLEX book until my very last semester of nursing and that's because it was a required book (which we never used in class). Some people were religious with it, but for me I couldn't see cramming a bunch of excess stuff into my head when there was already a ton of stuff in class and from our text to add more.
