As Qs (QMAs) we are practically taking over the traditional nurses' tasks because: THE GOVERNMENT HAS THEM BURIED UP TO THEIR EYEBALLS IN PAPER WORK. I thought nursing was about caring for people, healing people, not all INK AND PAPER. I saw this same trend happening in schools. The teachers could not teach because they were buried in paper work. COME ON! let's get back to basics!

I have only been a nurse for about a year now and it is for this very reason that I have really started to think that I chose the wrong profession - it's ridiculous! Not to mention all of the political crap that goes on in some of these institutions. I am really considering moving into pharm sales or something because it is not worth all the stress. Very sad because my true motivation to pursue this career was to provide loving care to patients.Sorry to be so pessimistic - I am just so discouraged right now about traditional nursing.

Please, tell that to the insurance companies and malpractice attorneys out there.
Here, we would be preaching to a choir with this sentiment. There is NOT ONE NURSE I KNOW who does not feel the paperwork is out of control----and that we are charting w/the jury in mind w/every word we write.

A doctor I used to work with said to me once, "I went in this to help the people not fill out all this blasted paperwork!" I agree, but I had to kinda chuckle, because for every piece of paper work he does I do five. Most of tje paper work he see's is a "Sign here:" or if he has to write somthing long, he dictates it and some one else types it up. They should have paper girls for the nurses to do all their paperwork other than charting!
Here, here!!
My gripe is I am supposed to be an aide, a medication aide, but an AIDE nonetheless. I didn't bargain for the whole enchilada. I am supposed to help the nurse not take her job. The way things are moving the Qs will be taught to do insulin soon. It wouldn't surprise me at all.
Funny thing is, many of them do not seem have a problem with this picture. Hummm....
