Overnighters... I'm sure Netflix is your BFF during your down time. What instant watch titles do you like? Right now I've been working through Dr. Who for the last month, and the last series I blew through was the new season of Arrested Development. What do you watch? What do you recommend?
I'm on the fence about this thread in this topic, but down-time is a part of life on overnight PDN work, and this does fall into the realm of supporting each other! ;D

I recommend Breaking Bad. It's a really good show. The story line is very consistent. It's about a high school teacher who is diagnose with cancer and starts to sells meth. To make enough money to pay for the chemo and surgery. But has a hard time quitting selling meth and tries to be a drug lord.

Never got Netflix. Biggest time killer has been use of the internet. Kind of careful with that because even if the client family says it is ok, there is always that uneasy feeling generated if they see me with a diversionary activity. So, I will bring a book instead, and try to wait until the middle of the shift before I bring it out.

Better that the nurse is awake to hear and respond to an alarm by watching a movie rather than sleeping and responding while drowsy.
Try hulu and vudu. Redbox just came out with streaming, but it's not available on lots of devices yet. I watched all of prison break and I'm keeping up with game of thrones.

Netflix and Candy Crush is what keeps me awake in a dark, cold room with the white noise of a vent tempting me to close my eyes. I finally watched ALL episodes of Lost, Breaking Bad, The Fosters...currently working on The Vampire Diaries.
I gave up Candy Crush for my New Year's resolution (I hit level 485 and was waiting for a new level to come out anyway) and after over two weeks, I STILL grab my phone w the urge to play. I didn't realize what a deep-rooted habit it was, it's just 5 lives and out, but the time really added up. I also played Jelly Splash but got rid of that also.
I kept playing Words With Friends because it's "real" interaction with "real" friends and I like the competition.

I don't watch Netflix because I can't get into a movie when I have to get up every 5 minutes to suction.
I just use the internet and drink lots of soda and water.

Lately I've been watching American Horror Story and Law and Order: SVU. I also watch a lot of Food Network on demand.
I'm also going to school online for RN-BSN so I have plenty of work to do on the computer as well.
