I just got hired on to a health and rehab facility. I'm pleased that I finally have a consistent employment, I just wanted to know if a health and rehab facility would be considered LTC. I've applied to places that won't accept your application if you have not worked LTC. It'd be nice to know if I'm getting the experience that I need. Thanks!

Most facilities that have a title ending in 'health and rehab' are LTC facilities.
Thanks! I'm used to most LTC facilities having only "healthcare" after the name, the rehab part threw me.

"Healthcare" is a euphemism for LTC, in my opinion.
Not like I could walk out these days and see "Shady Brooks Nursing Home." That would be too politically incorrect!

Yes, it's LTC- but Rehab usually means there's a rehab unit- short term rehabilitation patients, rather than all long-term. They may stay a week to a few months, for anything from IV antibiotics and wound care, to therapy after having a knee replacement, to therapy for strengthening after a bout of pneumonia, and then go home. That's what makes it different than just a long-term care home- but most rehab facilities tend to have a LTC unit or LTC beds in their facility, for those who are admitted as LTC, because they do not recover adequately for being discharged home.

Rehab is like a SNF-Skilled Nursing Facility to get people towards a state of wellness or goal and then be discharged. LTC-Long Term Care--Nursing home where residents live out their days. All are a part of "Healthcare" or nursing home facility. Nursing Home has fell out of favor--seniors don't care for the term but they know what Healthcare means. Who knows what it'll be called as more baby boomers enter them! (I'm part of that generation myself and thinking that I'm going to want to be in a place with a hip/cool name to it. lol)

I work in an accute rehab and was told by my surgeon that I was at a LTC facility, and required a MRSA test before going under the knife. LOL.
